Evaluation of roof slope and exposure with different roofing materials in reduced models of animal production facilities in spring and summer

Abstract: The present study was conducted at the Department of Rural Engineering and the Department of Animal Morphology and Physiology of FCAV/Unesp, Jaboticabal, SP, Brazil. The objective was to verify the influence of roof slope, exposure and roofing material on the internal temperature of reduced models of animal production facilities. For the development of the research, 48 reduced and dissemble models with dimensions 1.00 × 1.00 × 0.50 m were used. The roof was shed-type, and the models faced to the North or South… Show more

“…As example, the comparison between reinforced concrete flat roofs (RCFR) and free standing wooden roofs (FSWR) determined the later as the most used roof in housing projects, but the RCFR was found to be clearly a more cost-effective and advantageous roof type than FSWR [9], while a comparative study with five different roofing materials established that the tile roofing was the best in Polish [10]. The energy efficiency of the building may be another aspect for selection of the roof, as the roof slope has a certain influence on the internal temperature of building, along with the exposure and roofing materials [11]. In relation to that energy saving, the optimum slope was found to be between 30 and 60 0 [4,12].…”

“…Já outro sistema de criação também utilizado é as instalações do tipo climatizado, que difere do convencional por possuir ventilação por pressão negativa (exaustores), e normalmente com bebedouro, comedouros automatizados e sistema de resfriamento por nebulização, permitindo assim uma densidade de alojamento maior que no sistema convencional. Portanto, a avaliação das instalações (MELO et al, 2013;MELO et al, 2014;ROSALEN et al, 2020)…”
