The Cerrado biome has high species richness, endemism and spatial heterogeneity. Knowing the main characteristics and peculiarities of the flora is essential to adequately protect the species richness of the Cerrado. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the species richness, alpha diversity and beta diversity of four vegetation types in the Paracatu River Basin (15°30'/19°30'S and 45°10'/47°30'W), Paracatu-MG. The four vegetation types cerrado (stricto sensu, "cerradão" or Savannah woodland, deciduous seasonal forest and riparian forest) were sampled following the Manual for Monitoring Permanent Plots of the Cerrado and Pantanal Biomes. Alpha diversity was assessed using the Simpson (Ds´) and Shannon & Wiener (H') indexes, and beta diversity using the Sørensen and Jaccard similarity indexes. The "cerradão" vegetation type had the highest number of species (106) and highest alpha diversity (3.83nats.ind -1 ). The cerrado stricto sensu had the lowest species richness (54 species) and alpha diversity value (2.65 nats. ind -1 ). Beta diversity was high (low Jaccard and Sørensen similarity) except between cerrado stricto sensu and "cerradão". The initial hypothesis of this study was rejected, because although the phytophysiognomies are located on the same land system, the beta diversity is high, except for the cerrado stricto sensu and "cerradão", which had similar diversity.

RESUMO:Neste trabalho, objetivou-se avaliar a estrutura da comunidade arbórea da Floresta Nacional de Pacotuba, em Cachoeiro de Itapemirim -ES. Foram alocadas, sistematicamente, 12 parcelas de 40x50m, sendo medidas e identificadas todas as árvores vivas com DAP 5,0 cm. A análise fitossociológica foi baseada nos parâmetros absolutos e relativos de densidade, dominância, frequência, valor de importância e área basal. A estrutura diamétrica foi analisada a partir de histogramas com intervalos de classes definidos pela fórmula de Spiegel. Foram amostrados 3570 indivíduos, 253 espécies e 52 famílias. As espécies com maior valor de importância (VI) foram Senefeldera verticillata, Actinostemon estrellensis, Anadenanthera peregrina. As curvas (J-reverso) e valores do quociente "q" indicaram ausência de problemas de regeneração. O valor de área basal (25,72 m 2 .ha -1) e a alta dominância de poucas espécies permitem classificar esse fragmento como em estádio intermediário de sucessão. Entretanto, destaca-se sua expressiva riqueza, a presença de espécies de importância conservacionista e a necessidade dessa área ser priorizada em programas de manejo e conservação na região.Palavras-chave: Fragmentação, Floresta Estacional Semidecidual, fitossociologia. ABSTRACT. This study was conducted in one region of a Seasonal Semideciduous Forest located in Tapurah (Mato Grosso State, Brazil) with the aim of studying its floristic and structural composition. The fixed area method was applied to 10 × 250 m clusters, allocating and measuring five clusters with five subunits of 500 m² each. Species with a diameter at breast height greater than or equal to 10 cm were considered, and the sample sufficiency of the floristic survey was verified by a species accumulation curve. The similarities between the sample subunits were calculated by the Jaccard Similarity Index, and the species diversity with the Shannon Diversity Index and Pielou Evenness Index. The horizontal vegetation structure was characterized by density, frequency, dominance and the values of ecological importance, and diametric distribution were assessed by the Spiegel procedure. The families Vochysiaceae, Fabaceae and Sapindaceae were highly represented, and Qualea paraensis, Aspidosperma discolor and Matayba arborescens were the most important species. A high diversity and low ecological dominance were found, and the diametric structure of the trees presented a negative exponential distribution. In general, the structure, floristic composition and richness of vegetation correspond to a forest with stable and autoregenerative community after selective logging.
