ABSTRACT:The objective of this study was to determine whether the combination of adjuvants to fungicides significantly alters the spray physicochemical characteristics, and potentiates the chemical control of foliar diseases, in that it may affect yield components in wheat (Triticum aestivum) and soybean (Glycine max). The experimental design was completely randomized for the spray physicochemical characteristics, and randomized blocks for the culture variables analyzed, with four treatments and five replications. Treatments consisted of control (no fungicide spraying in the shoot), with fungicides only in plant shoots, fungicides + 0.25% of the spray with adjuvant of methyl ester base of soybean oil, and fungicides + 0.05% of the spray with adjuvant lauryl ether sodium sulfate base. Treatments were applied with land boom sprayer in wheat (season 2012) and soybean (season 2013). The variables evaluated were spray physicochemical characteristics, incidence and severity of diseases and yield components. Adjuvants altered the spray surface tension. Adding lauryl ether sodium sulfate to spray significantly reduced the disease severity in wheat, and incidence in soybean cultivation. The addition of adjuvants to spray fungicide did not affect yield components in both cultures.

Asian soybean rust (ASR) is one of the most severe diseases of the soybean crop, and the use of fungicides is the main form of control. Among the updates of soybean production system is adoption of new sowing arrangements. However are still incipient the studies to combine soybean sowing arrangements and pesticide spraying techniques on phytosanitary treatments on this crop. Therefore, the study aimed to evaluate the impact of different soybean sowing arrangements on spraying, ASR control, agronomic parameters and yield. The experimental design was randomized blocks in the subdivided plots scheme, with five sowing arrangements and two application techniques (with and without adjuvant). The spray deposition and coverage levels, the vertical distribution of leaves in the plants on different sowing arrangements, were evaluated the ASR disease severity and the productivity. Spraying is not affected by sowing arrangements. The adjuvant increased spray coverage. The vertical distribution of the leaves and number of branches in the soybean plants is affected by the sowing arrangement. The disease severity and yield were not affected by sowing arrangements.

Germinação de uredinosporos de Phakopsora pachyrhizi e Puccinia kuehnii sob diferentes adjuvantes

RESUMO No Brasil, Phakopsora pachyrhizi e Puccinia kuehnii são importantes patógenos das culturas da soja e cana-de-açúcar, respectivamente. Avaliou-se a germinação in vitro de uredinosporos de P. pachyrhizi eP. kuehnii sob diferentes adjuvantes comumente utilizados em caldas fungicidas. Foram utilizadas placas de Petri com 80 mm de diâmetro, contendo 10 mL de solução ágar-água (1,7%). Adicionou-se em cada placa 1 mL de suspensão de esporos, na concentração de 5x105 esporos mL-1, e 1 mL de solução de adjuvantes, no dobro da concentração da dose recomendada pelos fabricantes. Os adjuvantes testados foram Assist(r), Veget Oil(r), Natur Oil(r), Break Thru(r), Aureo(r), Silwet(r) e Nimbus(r); em adição, o tratamento Testemunha constou apenas da exposição dos uredinosporos em água destilada esterilizada. A partir de uma hora de exposição, todos os adjuvantes reduziram a germinação de uredinosporos de P. pachyrhizi . Uredinosporos do agente causal da ferrugem asiática da soja expostos aos adjuvantes Assist(r), Break Thru(r), Aureo(r) e Nimbus(r) tiveram menor germinação a partir de duas horas de exposição. A inibição da germinação dos uredinosporos de P. kuehnii pelos adjuvantes em relação ao tratamento Testemunha aconteceu a partir de 4 horas de exposição. Às 8 horas, uredinosporos de ferrugem alaranjada da cana-de-açúcar que foram expostos aos adjuvantes Veget Oil(r) e Break Thru(r) apresentaram redução na germinação de 96,6 e 94,8%, respectivamente, quando comparados com o tratamento Testemunha.
