Green manure is a soil management technique which provides several benefits to agroecosystems, improving the chemical, physical and biological quality of the soil, allowing them to provide different ecosystem services. Thus, the purpose of this work was to select green manures to compose multifunctional agroecosystems that provide ecosystem services in a semi-arid environment through the addition of biomass, C and N, and nutrient cycling. Thus, 29 treatments were evaluated in two cultivation cycles, using 14 species of legumes, oilseeds and grasses, distributed in single and intercropped crops. The green manures were cut at 70 days after sowing, and samples of the shoot and root parts were collected, with the production of fresh and dry biomass and the N, P, K, Ca, Mg and S levels being evaluated. C and biomass from rhizodeposition were also estimated. From these data, the accumulation of nutrients in the shoot and root biomass was calculated. Data were compared using descriptive and multivariate statistics. There is a positive relationship between the growing number of species used in consortium and the greater production of shoot and root biomass, favoring the increase in the capacity of the agroecosystem to provide provision and regulation services, with the latter being associated with climate change mitigation measures, highlighting the importance of biodiversity.

The study aimed to evaluate the control of Meloidogyne incognita in resistant and susceptible tomato genotypes treated with hydrogel containing avocado extracts (Persea americana Mill.). The methanolic extract of avocado seeds was evaporated and re-suspended in distilled water containing Tween 80 (0.6%). The extract was prepared with the following concentrations: 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1000 mg L ), for in vivo testing. The hydrogel containing avocado extract was added to the pits of tomato plants during transplanting, and after three days, M. incognita was inoculated. After 30 days, the relative chlorophyll content was assessed, along with the total volume of root, the number of galls and egg masses, viability of the egg mass, and number of eggs and juveniles per root system in 100 cm 3 of soil. From these assessments, the most effective dose in the control of nematodes was tested again with the extract concentrations of 1000, 2000, 4000, 6000 and 8000 mg L -1 in the hydrogel, which was added to the pits at the time of transplantation. After 30 days of inoculation the same evaluations were performed. In vitro, the concentration of 1000 mg L -1 of the avocado extract was the most effective in reducing the hatched juveniles, while motility and mortality were not influenced. In vivo, 1.0 g pit -1 dose in the first test had greater control of nematodes in susceptible plants for all variables assessed. It was incorporated into the pits of tomato plants for the realization of the second test. In this, the concentration of 8000 mg L -1 was the most effective in controlling M. incognita. Therefore, the avocado seed extract served in hydrogel has the potential to control M. incognita in tomato plants.

RESUMOExtratos vegetais podem interferir no ciclo de vida dos fitopatógenos por promover ou inibir o desenvolvimento. Com base nessa propriedade, este trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de estudar o efeito dos extratos aquosos das plantas de cobertura crotalária (Crotalaria juncea), braquiária (Brachiaria ruziziensis), capim-mombaça (Panicum maximum cv. mombaça), milheto (Pennisetum glaucum), feijão-guandu-anão (Cajanus cajan) e estilosantes (Stylosanthes capitata x Stylosanthes macrocephala) sobre o crescimento micelial, germinação carpogênica e micelial dos escleródios e germinação dos ascósporos do fungo Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. As etapas do experimento foram desenvolvidas em casa de vegetação, câmaras de crescimento e laboratório. As concentrações dos extratos utilizadas foram de 1%, 5%, 10% e 25%. Para verificar a influência dos extratos sobre a germinação micelial e carpogênica dos escleródios, foi utilizada somente a concentração de 25%. Os resultados sobre o crescimento micelial mostraram que o extrato da planta de Stylosanthes sp. inibiu o desenvolvimento do patógeno apenas na concentração de 25%. Para a germinação micelial dos escleródios, verificou-se que os extratos induziram a germinação 12 horas após a instalação do experimento, exceto o Stylosanthes sp. Na germinação dos ascósporos, apenas o extrato de Stylosanthes sp. impediu a germinação. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Mofo branco, manejo cultural, ascósporos, escleródios, apotécios. ABSTRACT PLANT EXTRACTS OF COVER CROPS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SCLEROTINIA SCLEROTIORUM.Plant extracts may interfere with the life cycle of pathogens by promoting or inhibiting development. Based on this property, the present study aimed to evaluate the effect of aqueous extracts of the cover plants crotalaria (Crotalaria juncea), brachiaria (Brachiaria ruziziensis), panicum maximum grass (Panicum maximum cv. mombaça), millet (Pennisetum glaucum), pigeon pea dwarf bean (Cajanus cajan.) and stylosanthes (Stylosanthes macrocephala x Stylosanthes capitata) on the mycelial growth, mycelial and carpogenic germination of sclerotia, and ascospore germination of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. The stages of the experiment were carried out in a greenhouse, growth chambers and laboratory. The concentrations of the extracts used were 1%, 5%, 10% and 25%. To assess the influence of extracts on the mycelial and carpogenic germination of the sclerotia only the concentration of 25% was used. The results on the mycelial growth showed that the Stylosanthes sp. plant extract was effective for inhibiting the pathogen only at concentration of 25%. For mycelial germination of sclerotia, it was found that with the exception of Stylosanthes sp. the extracts induced germination 12 hours after the experiment.
