Resumo -O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a capacidade de estabelecimento de plantas de cobertura em sobressemeadura na cultura soja. A soja foi semeada em diferentes épocas para que, no estádio R 7 (maturação fisiológica), ocorressem diferentes condições climáticas para implantação das plantas de cobertura. O experimento foi realizado em Rio Verde, GO, na safra A sobressemeadura das plantas de cobertura foi realizada manualmente, a lanço, quando a soja atingiu o estádio R 7 . Com exceção da segunda época de semeadura da soja, que apresentou a menor média de estande em todas as plantas de cobertura, em razão da maior matocompetição, todas as demais possibilitaram crescimento inicial satisfatório das plantas de cobertura sobressemeadas em R 7 , com base na emergência, altura de plantas, cobertura do solo e produção de palhada. RESUMO -O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a eficiência da sobressemeadura da soja, utilizando plantas de cobertura, na redução da emergência de plantas daninhas e seus reflexos na produtividade da cultura da soja cultivada na safra seguinte. O delineamento utilizado foi de blocos ao acaso, em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, com o fator época na parcela e o fator plantas de cobertura nas subparcelas, com quatro repetições. A soja foi semeada em decumbens, Eleusine coracana, Pennisetum glaucum e Cober Crop -híbrido de sorgo (Sorghum bicolor cv. Bicolor) com capim-sudão (Sorghum bicolor cv. Sudanense)] e pousio (vegetação espontânea) em quatro épocas de sobressemeadura, a qual foi realizada manualmente, a lanço, quando a soja atingiu o estádio R 7 (início da desfolha na maturação fisiológica), em cada uma das quatro épocas de semeadura da soja na safra 2005/06. Em 23/ 10/2006, executou-se a primeira dessecação das plantas de cobertura. Após 20 dias, aplicouse a segunda dessecação e, em seguida, fez-se a semeadura da soja, cultivar MSOY 6101, de ciclo precoce, no espaçamento de 0,45 m, visando à população de 500.000 plantas ha -1 . A técnica de sobressemeadura à cultura da soja, principalmente com a utilização de braquiárias, mostrou ser importante ferramenta para o manejo integrado de plantas daninhas, por proporcionar maior aporte de fitomassa e cobertura do solo, o que contribui para sustentabilidade ao sistema de plantio direto no cerrado.Palavras-chave: plantas de cobertura, Alternanthera tenella, Cenchrus echinatus, plantio direto, integração lavourapecuária.ABSTRACT -The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the efficiency of soybean oversowing, using cover crops, in reducing weed emergence and its reflections on the productivity of the soybean cultivated in the following season. RESUMOO uso do consórcio entre plantas de cobertura e culturas anuais, no Cerrado, tem sido prática cada vez mais difundida, pela possibilidade de implantação das forrageiras durante o desenvolvimento das culturas anuais, através da diferença de profundidade e sistema de semeadura. Objetivou-se, neste trabalho avaliar a emergência e algumas características agronômicas de quatro espécies de plantas de cobertura, em diferentes profundidades, visando ao seu emprego na consorciação e sobressemeadura em culturas anuais. O experimento foi conduzido em casa-de-vegetação, no delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso, em arranjo fatorial 4 x 7, composto pelas plantas de cobertura Brachiaria brizantha, B. decumbens, B. ruziziensis e Panicum maximum cv. Tanzânia, e por seis profundidades de semeadura e um sistema de cobertura de sementes (0 sem cobertura, 0 com cobertura, 1, 4, 8, 10 e 15 cm). As sementes foram semeadas em vasos e as plantas cultivadas por 40 dias. Avaliou-se o índice e o tempo de emergência, a altura de plantas, a fitomassa verde e seca da parte aérea, a área foliar, a fitomassa seca radicular e a densidade de comprimento radicular. O maior desenvolvimento das plantas estudadas foi detectado nas semeaduras até 1 cm de profundidade. ABSTRACTThe use of the consortium between cover crops and annual crops in the Cerrado, is an increasingly widespread practice, because of the possibility of deployment of cover crops during the development of annual crops by the difference in depth and seeding system. The objective was to evaluate the emergency and some agronomic characteristics of four species of cover crops at different seeding depths, to use them in consortium and oversown in annual crops. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, and the experimental design of randomized blocks in factorial arranged 4 x 7, where it was four cover crops: Brachiaria brizantha, B. decumbens, B. ruziziensis and Panicum maximum cv. Tanzania, and six depths of sowing and a cover of seed system (0 cm without any mulch, 0 cm with a mulch of soybean leaves, 1, 4, 8, 10 and 15 cm). The cover crops were cropped in vase for 40 days. We evaluated emergence index, emergence time, plant height, green biomass and dry biomass of the above-ground part, leaf area, root dry biomass and root length density. The largest development of the cover crops was detected in the sowing up to 1 cm of depth. The P. maximum showed no ability to use in consortium with annual crops. The sowing of the cover crops from 10 cm is not recommended.

e laranja, todos estes analisados em cromatógrafo a gás acoplado a detector de massas, para identificação dos principais componentes dos óleos. Foram avaliados o crescimento micelial, produção e germinação de conídios de B. cinerea, com a incorporação do óleo no meio de cultura. Realizou-se ainda uma avaliação de voláteis e a eficiência de óleos em isolado resistente a fungicida. Para cada teste, diferentes óleos apresentaram eficiência, contudo capim limão, palmarosa, canela e menta demonstraram os melhores efeitos em todos os testes realizados. Todos os tratamentos a base de óleos demonstraram efeito semelhante a um fungicida recomendado para a cultura, a base de tiofanato metílico. Dois tratamentos mostraram-se efetivos no caso de isolado resistente (óleo de capim limão e de canela). Óleos essenciais mostram-se como opção promissora para o desenvolvimento de possíveis produtos fitossanitários para o manejo de doenças em plantas.Palavras-Chave: Fragaria x ananassa Duch. Ex. This study aimed evaluates essential oils in Botrytis cinerea isolates growth, which causes gray mould on strawberry. Were tested essential oils of lemon grass, palmrose, citronella, clove, cinnamon, mint, lavender, tangerine, eucalyptus, tea tree, rosemary and orange. The oils were analyzed in gas chromatograph attached to mass detector for identifying the mainly oils components. Were evaluated mycelial growth, conidia production and conidia germination of B. cinerea, with oil incorporation in culture medium. Were conducted an evaluation of oils volatile components and the efficiency of oils in fungicide-resistant isolate. For each test, different oils showed efficiency, however lemongrass, palmarosa, cinnamon and mint showed the best effects in all tests. All treatments demonstrated similar effects to recommended fungicide for the culture, which had methyl thiophanate. Two treatments (lemon grass and cinnamon oils), were effective against resistant isolate. Essential oils are shown as promising option for development of possible product for plant disease management.

Black rot of crucifers, (Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris) is the principal yield-limiting and destructive pathogen of cruciferous crop worldwide. In order to validate a bio-based control alternative for this disease, whey, lime sulfur, biofertilizer, Bordeaux mixture or raw milk were applied to kale (Brassica oleracea var. acephala) plants. The disease control was achieved by most of the tested products. Milk-based products (raw milk and whey) and biofertilizer reduced the severity by 44 and 56% in the field. Antioxidants, crude fibber, crude protein and lipid contents and kale yield were verified in the five treatments on the leaves with and without X. campestris pv. campestris inoculation. In the absence of the pathogen (non-inoculated), lime sulfur and Bordeaux mixture improved plant nutritional value compared to organic treatments, nevertheless milk-based products and biofertilizer improved the evaluated variables more than the control. However, on leaves inoculated with X. campestris pv. campestris raw milk increased antioxidant activity, crude protein and fiber contents, whereas biofertilizer increased kale yield, lipid and antioxidant contents. Milk-based products and biofertilizer were further evaluated in greenhouse trials to determinate the activity of defense-related enzymes and lignin content. Biofertilizer treatment resulted in increased phenylalanine ammonia lyase, catalase, peroxidase activities and lignin content. Hence, the application of milk-based products and biofertilizer are promising to control black rot of crucifers and also improves food quality by boosting nutritional values and antioxidant activity.

The current research aimed to study the efficacy of plant extracts and essential oils from Rosmarinus officinalis, Thymus vulgaris, Cinnamomum zeylanicum and Syzigium aromaticum on mycelial growth and conidial germination of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense in vitro, as well as evaluation in vivo. Essential oils and extracts were applied in the culture medium (PDA) at melting point to estimate the direct effect on mycelial growth. Also, the estimation of volatile substances against mycelial growth was done. The obtained results indicated that plant extracts and essential oils of Cinnamomum zeylanicum and Syzigium aromaticum were effective at 500 ppm with direct effect against mycelial growth. The volatile plant extracts had no effect on mycelial growth, however, the volatile essential oils of Cinnamomum zeylanicum and Syzigium aromaticum showed good effects in controlling the disease in both 1000 and 2000 ppm. Meanwhile, extracts and essential oils of Cinnamomum zeylanicum and Syzigium aromaticum showed efficacy on the conidial germination. In vivo, both essential oils and extracts from Cinnamomum zeylanicum and Syzigium aromaticum, in addition to fungicide (Trifloxystrobin + Tebuconazole) which was effective in avoiding the spread of disease.

The aim of this study was to develop a diagrammatic scale to evaluate black rot (Xanthomonas campestris pv. compestris) severity on kale (Brassica oleraceae var. acephala) leaves. The diagrammatic scale was developed and validated with eight levels of severity, ranging from 0.19 to 48.8%. More than 95% of the leaves collected from the field showed severity levels ranging from 0.1 to 21%, and 5% of the leaves showed severities higher than 22%. The validation of the scale was performed by 10 inexperienced evaluators, and the data were analysed with two methods: linear regression and Lin's statistics. Without the scale, most evaluators overestimated disease severity, whereas the use of the scale resulted in increased precision, accuracy, repeatability, and reproducibility of the estimates according to both validation methods. In conclusion, the proposed diagrammatic scale proved to be useful for assessments of black rot severity in kale leaves. The scale may be of interest to researches performing studies on epidemiology or breeding for resistance.

O experimento foi conduzido em casa-de-vegetação, no delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso, em esquema fatorial 5 x 7, composto pelas plantas de cobertura Pennisetum glaucum var. ADR 300, ADR 500 e BN2, Eleusine coracana e cober crop [híbrido de sorgo com capim-sudão (Sorghum bicolor x Sorghum sudanense)], e por sete profundidades de semeadura das plantas de cobertura (0 cm sem presença de folhas de soja sobre as sementes, 0 com presença de folhas de soja sobre as sementes, 1, 4, 8, 10 e 15 cm). As sementes foram semeadas em vasos e as plantas cultivadas por 40 dias. Avaliaram-se o índice e o tempo de emergência, a altura de plantas, a fitomassa verde e seca da parte aérea, a área foliar, a fitomassa seca radicular e a densidade de comprimento radicular. Houve redução na emergência quando a semeadura foi realizada a zero cm com cobertura. Os milhetos e o híbrido S. bicolor x S. sudanense apresentaram restrições quanto ao uso em consórcio simultâneo.
