Perspectives in the use of carbon dioxide

Abstract: The mitigation of carbon dioxide is one of the scientific and technological challenges of the 2000s. Among the technologies that are under assessment, the recovery of carbon dioxide from power plants or industrial flue gases plays a strategic role. Recovered carbon dioxide can be either disposed in natural fields or used. The availability of large amounts of carbon dioxide may open new routes to its utilisation in biological, chemical and innovative technological processes. In this paper, the potential of carb… Show more

“…To overcome the above-mentioned problems, supported metal catalysts such as Cu-Ni 3, [15][16][17][18][19] and Cu-Fe 20,21 have been prepared, and they show better catalytic performances in a xed bed reactor. In addition, metal oxides, especially zirconia-based, 22,23 cerium-based, [24][25][26][27] and vanadiumbased catalysts, 28 also show good catalytic activities due to both acidic and basic sites on the catalyst surface. Especially, CeO 2 is widely used as a catalyst along with a dehydrating agent and exhibits good catalytic performances.…”
