Show more

“…A common difficulty, observed when new additives or alternative food sources are used in fish diets, is acceptability, which is related to palatability (AZEVEDO; TONINI; BRAGA, 2013;CARVALHO et al, 2012;RODRIGUEZ;CARMONA, 1996;SENA et al, 2012). The similarity in values for total feed consumption suggests that including the additives under evaluation did not alter the palatability of the feed.…”

“…Total free amino acids and growth performance parameters together may indicate if dietary protein has been mobilized as a key mechanism in metabolism adaptation (COSTAS et al, 2011). It has also been used to evaluate the effect of alternative ingredients for fish feed (ADAMIDOU et al, 2009;HANSEN et al, 2011;AZEVEDO et al, 2013).…”

“…Therefore, the results found for the zootechnical performance of Nile tilapia can also be justified by the attractiveness/palatability of the diets containing palm oil, allowing a high consumption, positively influencing the evaluated variables. In agreement, Azevedo (2013), working with palm pie in diets for tilapia juveniles, observed an increase in the daily intake values of the feed, which may have been influenced by the palatability of the diet. According to NRC (1994), the use of lipids in feed improves palatability and reduces nutrient loss.…”
