Show more

“…The same toxicological classification of neonicotinoid imidacloprid was found by Bueno and Freitas (2001) and Godoy et al (2010) in first instance and adult larvae respectively. The high toxicity of neonicotinoids is related to their physico-chemical characteristics, which characterize a greater potential for accumulation in organisms, such as greater penetration capacity and accumulation in the cuticle of insects in fatty tissues, which may affect their development (TOMIZAWA; CASIDA, 2005).…”

“…genanigra. These results suggest that the toxicity of pesticides may vary from species to species of Chrysopidae due to absorption, penetration, transport and activation processes in the tissues and vital organs of organisms (GODOY et al, 2010). Since insects have enzymes that can metabolize insecticides, they detoxify and remove toxic molecules (HEMINGWAY, 2000).…”

“…No use of insecticides for managing caterpillars may have favored the establishment and abundance of insect predators. The use of selective insecticides therefore allows for obtaining a greater number of beneficial insects in agricultural systems (Godoy et al, 2010;Carmo et al, 2009). …”
