This work evaluated the effect of genotype by environment interaction in Andean common bean lines with white grains, in Central Southern Brazil, to identify lines with high agronomic performance, stability and adaptability, aiming to meet domestic demand and to increase the Brazilian participation in the foreign market of common bean. Nineteen trials with twelve Andean lines were conducted in , 2008 Grain yield and other agronomic traits were evaluated. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and of adaptability/stability using Annicchiarico and modified AMMI methods. Significant differences were found between lines for all traits evaluated. Genotype by environment interaction was important for lines with Andean origin and white seed. The utilization of weighted mean of absolute scores and yield with the AMMI results enabled the identification of the most stable and adapted lines. Lines Poroto Alubia, CNFB 16211, Ouro Branco and WAF 160 were stable and adapted, using both methods. CNFB 16211 line presented high agronomic performance, stability and adaptability and therefore this line may be a new cultivar. USWA 70 and WAF 75 lines presented grain size similar to that required by the foreign market and superior to the Brazilian cultivars, besides favorable agronomic traits, and thus these lines may be indicated as new cultivars.Key words: Phaseolus vulgaris, special grains, adaptability, genotype by environment interaction, AMMI.Potencial agronômico e estabilidade de linhagens de feijoeiro-comum de origem andina com grãos brancos no Brasil ResumoOs objetivos deste trabalho foram avaliar o efeito da interação genótipos x ambientes em linhagens de feijoeiro-comum de origem andina com grãos brancos na Região Centro-Sul do Brasil e identificar linhagens com alto potencial agronômico, estabilidade e adaptabilidade, visando atender a demanda interna e possibilitar a participação brasileira no mercado externo. Dezenove ensaios constituídos por 12 linhagens foram conduzidos em campo na Região Centro-Sul do Brasil nos anos 2007, 2008 e 2009. Avaliaram-se a produtividade de grãos e outros caracteres de importância agronômica. Os dados foram submetidos a análises de variância e de adaptabilidade/estabilidade pelos métodos de Annicchiarico e AMMI com modificações. Houve diferenças entre as linhagens para todos os caracteres avaliados. A interação genótipos x ambientes foi importante na avaliação de linhagens de origem andina com grãos brancos. A utilização da média ponderada pelos escores absolutos e da produtividade com os resultados da análise AMMI facilitou a identificação de linhagens mais estáveis e adaptadas. As linhagens Poroto Alubia, CNFB 16211, Ouro Branco e WAF 160 são estáveis e adaptadas utilizando-se as duas metodologias. A linhagem CNFB 16211 apresenta alto potencial agronômico, alta estabilidade e adaptabilidade sendo, portanto, possível a sua indicação como nova cultivar. As linhagens USWA 70 e WAF 75 apresentam tamanho de grão semelhante ao exigido pelo mercado externo e superior ao das cultivar...

- of GGEBiplot is the definition of an ideal genotype (G) and environment (E), serving as reference for the evaluation of genotypes and choice of environments with greater GE interaction. Both models indicated RB006970, RB855156 and RB855453 as the genotypes with highest TSH and São Pedro do Ivai as the environment with the greatest GE interaction. Both approaches explained a high percentage of the sum of squares, with a slight advantage of AMMI over GGE Biplot analysis.

Charcoal rot (Macrophomina phaseolina) is a major disease of beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) in Mexico. The use of germplasm combining high-yield stability with resistance to drought and charcoal rot could reduce damage from this disease. In this study, we compared the Eberhart and Russell method and the Additive Main Effect and Multiplicative Interaction (AMMI) model plus biplot analysis for measuring grain yield (GY) and charcoal rot resistance (CHRR) stabilities in 98 F 8 : 10 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) derived from a cross between bean adapted to the tropics (BAT) 477 (resistant) · Pinto UI-114 (susceptible). Experiments were conducted from 2007 to 2009 in Isla, Cotaxtla, Rı´o Bravo and Dı´az Ordaz, Me´xico, under irrigated or terminal drought conditions. anova anova detected significant differences (P £ 0.05) in GY and CHRR among environments, genotypes and genotype · environment interactions (GEI). Most RILs showed good responses to unfavourable environments based on GY (48) and CHRR (40). AMMI anova anova s for both traits showed that all sources of variation in the model accounted for approximately 49% of the total squared sum. For the first principal component (PC1), we found 13 RILs that were stable for GY, and for the second (PC2), we found 9 that were stable for GI. For CHRR, we detected 14 stable RILs (PC1) and eight (PC2). Biplot analysis showed the largest vectors for Dı´az Ordaz (irrigated and drought, 2008), where the highest and most variable GYs were detected. The shortest vectors were found in Isla (drought, 2007) and Rı´o Bravo (irrigated and drought, 2008), where the lowest and least variable GY were found. We found differential responses of RILs to locations, years and soil humidity conditions as well as significant GEI based on GY and CHRR. The two methods were complementary, and both gave us information to select stable, high-yield germplasm associated with resistance to charcoal rot disease.
