The effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi inoculation on Euterpe oleracea mart. (açaí) seedlings

Abstract: -With the objective of verifying the response of Euterpe oleracea seedlings to seven arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi species, an experimental trial was carried out under greenhouse conditions. Seeds of E. oleracea were sown in carbonized rice husk. Germinating seeds were initially transferred to plastic cups, containing fumigated Reddish Yellow Quartz Sand and inoculated with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. Two months later, seedlings were transferred to 2 kg black plastic bags, containing the same soil without fum… Show more

“…In AMF-colonized seedlings of Bactris gasipaes (pupunha) significant increases were observed in relation to non-mycorrhizal plants in terms of height at field transplanting stem diameter (22 %), shoot dry biomass (140 %), root dry biomass (89 %), and nutrient uptake (Sudo et al, 1996). Mycorrhizal association increased P and K nutrition of Elaeis guineensis (Carvalho, 1997), and plant growth and nutrition of Euterpe oleracea (Chu, 1999). Ramos-Zapata et al (2006) observed that plants of Desmoncus orthacanthos associated with AMF had higher survival rates, leaf area and P uptake.…”

“…Among them, Chu (1999) found a positive effect in the uptake and accumulation of N, P, K, Ca, Mg and Zn in Euterpe oleracea, after nine months of inoculation with Scutellospora gilmorei, in comparison with the non-inoculated control treatment.…”
