The Human Caring Theory supports and guides the nursing care with a view to a holistic and transpersonal care, bringing attention love, ethics and spirituality as an essential component of care. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze Bibliometric indicators of scientific literature concerning the Human Caring Theory disseminated in journals online, with an emphasis on characterization of publications. It is a Bibliometric study in a quantitative approach. The sample was made up of 55 articles published from 1995 to 2015. The data obtained showed that the national journals are published on Human Caring Theory, with predominance of original articles published between the years 2010 and 2011. It is concluded that the publications about the subject investigated quantitative feature listless, considering the period researched. It is suggested to conduct new studies to broaden and deepen the knowledge.

RESUMENObjetivo: Determinar si existen diferencias entre las enfermeras de pacientes hospitalizados y sus familiares, respecto de la percepción de cuáles conductas de cuidado son importantes. Material y método: Estudio descriptivo, transversal, cuya muestra, estratificada por servicio, estuvo constituida por 54 enfermeras y 96 familiares de un hospital general. Para medir la variable respuesta se empleó el Caring Assessment Instrument (Care-Q) de Patricia Larson, que consta de 50 preguntas dividas en 6 subescalas que miden el comportamiento del profesional de enfermería en la entrega de cuidado: a) es accesible, b) explica y facilita, c) conforta, d) se anticipa, e) mantiene relación de confianza y f) monitorea y hace seguimiento. Resultados: La priorización de la primera conducta, representada por la subescala "monitorea y hace seguimiento", coincide en ambos grupos. En relación a la importancia asignada al resto de las conductas de cuidado y sus subescalas, se observan diferencias en ambos grupos. Conclusión: La priorización de las categorías y conductas de cuidado entre las enfermeras y los familiares de los pacientes son diferentes y como primera selección se enfocan hacia conductas del tipo técnicas, más que al desarrollo de habilidades sociales.Palabras clave: Conductas del cuidado, percepción, enfermeras, pacientes, familia. ABSTRACTObjective: To determine whether there are differences between nurses of hospitalized patients and their relatives, regarding the perception they have of what care behaviors are important. Material and method: A cross-sectional descriptive study whose sample, stratified by service, consisted of 54 nurses and 96 relatives of a general hospital. To measure the response variable, the Caring Assessment Instrument (Care-Q) by Patricia Larson was used, which consists of 50 questions divided into 6 sub-scales that measure the behavior of the nursing professional in the delivery of care: a) it is accessible, b) explains and facilitates, c) comforts, d) anticipates, e) maintains a relationship of trust and f) monitors and follows up. Results: The prioritization of the first behavior, represented by the subscale "monitors and follows-up", coincides in both groups. Regarding the importance assigned to the rest of the care behaviors and their subscales, differences are observed in both groups. Conclusion: The prioritization of care categories and behaviors between nurses and patients' relatives are different and, as a first choice, it focuses on technical type behavior rather than the development of social skills.

RESUMO:A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar a aplicabilidade da teoria dos 14 componentes do cuidado de Virginia Henderson por meio do levantamento da sua utilização em pesquisas nacionais e internacionais. Foi realizada uma revisão integrativa, a seleção dos artigos para o levantamento bibliográfico foi realizado nas bases de dados LILACS, ScIELOe BDENF, utilizando dois descritores controlados na base da BIREME (DeCs): "teoria de enfermagem", "enfermagem", e como não controlados "teoria de Virginia Henderson", "Henderson" e"metaparadigmas de enfermagem". Considerando o período de corte temporal do estudo de 2003 a 2013 em que foram analisados três bases de dados, ocorreu leitura de um total de 2.370 resumos de artigos (492 SCIELO, 565 LILACS e 1313 BDENF). Deste conjunto, respeitando os critérios de inclusão do estudo foram selecionados 14 artigos que utilizaram a teoria de enfermagem proposta por Virginia Henderson, representando 0,6% dos artigos publicados. Conclui-se que a teoria de Henderson tem sido empregada nas pesquisas com maior frequência em estudos internacionais. É notório sua grande aplicabilidade por tratar-se de um teoria simples e autoexplicativa, podendo ser utilizada nos diferentes contextos como um guia a prática da enfermagem pela maioria dos profissionais, sem grandes dificuldades. APPLICABILITY OF THE VIRGINIA HENDERSON THEORY FOR FOUNDATIONS IN NURSING: WEAKNESSES AND POTENTIAL ABSTRACT:The present research aimed to analyze the theory of the 14 care components by Virginia Henderson by means of a survey of their use in national and international research. An integrative review was performed, and the selection of papers for the bibliographic survey was performed on the LILACS, ScIELO and BDENF using two controlled descriptors from the BIREME (DeCs) basis: "nursing theory", "nursing" and as non-controlled descriptors, "Virginia Henderson theory", "Henderson" and "nursing metaparadigms" were used.Considering the sectional period of the study, from 2003 to 2013, when the three databases were analyzed, a total of 2,370 (492 SciELO, 565 LILACS and 1313 BDENF) abstracts were read. From these, respecting the inclusion criteria to the study, 14 articles were selected, which used the nursing theory proposed by Virginia Henderson, representing 0.6 % of the published articles. It can be concluded that Henderson's theory has been used in research with greater frequency in international studies. Its wide applicability is notorious since it is a simple and self-explanatory theory, and can be used in different context as a guide to nursing practices by most professionals without major difficulties.
