Ensaio clínico comparando três modalidades de crioterapia em mulheres não grávidas

Abstract: The objective of the present study was to compare three methods of cryotherapy in healthy non-pregnant women. This is a randomized controlled clinical trial that was conducted by 32 undergraduates of a private nursing college in the city of Sao Paulo, divided into three groups (iced water, soft ice, ice gel). The temperatures were verified (axillary, thigh, of the three ice packs) between zero and twenty minutes. The temperatures of the packs were the following: soft ice, from negative 9 degrees C to 2 degrees… Show more

“…Various methods of applying cryotherapy include using ice pack, ice massage, cold bath, and cooling gel packs. Cryotherapy, in its first minutes of application produces an uncomfortable sensation (Leventhal et al 2010), but then the cold results in reducing the blood flow in the tissues and cell metabolism of the injured area (Modabber et al 2013). It decreases vascular permeability (Dykstra et al 2009), reduces inflammation and muscle pain (Salvo 2015) and eventually increases pain threshold (Hausswirth et al 2011).…”

“…(Belitsky, Odam, & Hubley-Kozey, 1987). Penggunaan air es (es basah) dibandingkan dengan penggunaan gel beku (es kering) sebagai metode cryotherapy menunjukkan bahwa pengguaan gel lebih efisien dalam memberi efek dingin dan anti nyeri (Leventhal, Cianchi, & de Oliveira, 2010).…”

“…20 A clinical trial comparing the application of ice packs, soft ice (a mix prepared with two thirds water and one third 70% alcohol) and cold-gel pads on the thighs of 32 healthy volunteers for 20 minutes found that the gel was more efficient in cooling compared to the other two methods. 21 However, a systematic review comparing the analgesic efficacy of different modalities of local cooling showed no difference in analgesic efficacy or in the satisfaction of puerperal women comparing ice and cold-gel pads.…”
