“…Finally, ultrasound screening has shown cases of CE in 0.75% of 401 people in the State of Mexico (MataMiranda et al, 2007). s0260 3.2 Central America p0785 CE has been reported sporadically in humans in the past in countries of Central America, such as Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Cuba, Panama (Sanchez et al, 1992;Sousa and Lombardo Ayala, 1965) and Costa Rica (Brenes Madrigal et al, 1977). However, local transmission and molecular data have not been documented for any of these countries.…”

“…infections S anchez et al, 2010;Santivanez et al, 2008); however, a few cases of E. intermedius (G6 and G7) have been reported in humans and pigs, respectively Sanchez et al, 2012;Santivanez et al, 2008). Molecular data from Uruguay is limited to a few samples included in studies reporting the genetic variability of E. granulosus in other South American countries.…”

“…In the present study, absence of G6 genotype in Mazandaran's samples could be due to the low samples analyzed since in previously reports only 15% of the samples were from G6 genotype [22] . The G1 genotype of E. granulosus is the dominant strain both in animals and human in Iran and around the world [32] . This study demonstrated that the sheep strain was found in all of the isolated sequences based on the sequences of CO1 gene so it seems that goats are a good intermediate host for the sheep strain.…”

“…The new molecular tools is a most accurate method to determine genetic variation of E.granulosus to date ten distinct genotypes were identified (G1-G10) based on the DNA market [11], also morphological and biochemical criteria were studied by researchers [12], [13]. The strains of E.granulosus were found in the domestic animals known as intermediate hosts: sheep, pigs, cattle, horses, camels, goats and cervid [14], the researchers confirmed that seven of these strains were found to be infective to human [15]. The biochemical marker is reliable criteria for recognizing of E.granulosus strains variation [16].…”
