Abstract

A infecção produzida pelo Cryptococcus neoform ans provoca amplo espectro de resposta do hospedeiro, compreendendo desde casos assintomáticos à meningoencefalite ou à criptococose genèralizadal 1. A virulência do agente apresenta importância menor na patogenia da doença quando comparada ao estado imune do hospedeiro, sendo que os quadros mais graves usualmente são os dos pa cientes com imunidade celular comprometida14.
