Formação de profissionais de saúde no Brasil: uma análise no período de 1991 a 2008

Abstract: Study conducted to support the planning and implementation of public policies on human health resources. Fourteen undergraduate health courses were analyzed: biomedicine, biological sciences, physical education, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, speech and language therapy, medicine, veterinary medicine, nutrition, dentistry, psychology, social work and occupational therapy between 1991 and 2008. “…The implementation of the new curriculum guidelines in undergraduate and graduate programs, the proposals of the FHS to provide comprehensive care to individuals, families and communities, as well as continuing education in the preparation of human resources in primary health care, may have a direct influence on this result, as the focus of such strategies is on the individual as a whole, placing oral health as part of overall health, and not as a separate entity. 39,40 It is noteworthy that the prevalence of chronic diseases among the elderly has increased, 41 a fact that should be considered in health strategies aimed at this population group. “…De acordo com Almeida-Filho (2011), os indicadores de recursos humanos de 2009-10 eram de 1,5 milhão de profissionais da saúde registrados em conselhos profissionais, sendo o SUS o principal empregador. Haddad et al (2010) evidenciou a urgente necessidade de harmonizar a relação entre formação profissional e a organização do sistema de saúde brasileiro.
