To get to know the quality of life of LGBT students at the Federal University of Sergipe. An analytical, comparative, exploratory, cross - sectional, quantitative, non - probabilistic study with a population composed of undergraduate students from a Health Sciences Campus of the Federal University of Sergipe. Students in the nursing; pharmacy; physiotherapy; speech; language and hearing sciences; medicine; nutrition; dentistry and occupational therapy courses were part of the research. Among the inclusion criteria are: LGBT people, over 18 years of age, students with regular enrollment and who accepted to participate in the study by signing the Free and Informed Consent Term. Participants provided sociodemographic and quality of life information through the WHOQOL-BREF instrument. The WHOQOL-BREF examines four domains related to quality of life (physical, psychological, personal relationships and the environment. The responses followed the Likert scale (from 1 to 5, and the higher the score, the better the quality of life). 65 students with a mean age of 21.7 years old (± 3.4) participated in the study, of which, 22 (33.8%) were female and 43 (66.2%) were male. The means of responses and standard deviation in the physical, psychological, social and environmental domains were, respectively, 2.6 ± 0.6; 2.8 ± 0.7; 2.7 ± 0.7; 2.8 ± 0.6. This study aims to provide support for public policies aimed at the LGBT population, reaching the various spheres of our society, ensuring not only access, but also the permanence of this population group in different spaces, especially in the University, in a dignified, safe and healthy way.

Ípsilon indica que o uso do preservativo não deve ser interpretado como uma prática singular no cuidado de si na prevenção das IST, pois aliado ao uso do preservativo, a travesti e/ou a mulher transexual também deve realizar regularmente 'exames' (13%) clínicos para identificar se é ou não portadora do vírus HIV e outras IST, pois o problema não é somente ser portadora do vírus HIV, e sim desconhecer que é portadora do vírus HIV e não realizar acompanhamento médico, tratamento medicamentoso adequado e ter relações sexuais desprotegidas com outras pessoas.Pantera, Pequena-zebra e Bicuda afirmaram que elas priorizam se relacionar sexualmente somente com preservativo.…”

Nesta pesquisa problematizamos ‘quais são as práticas do cuidado de si executadas por travestis e mulheres transexuais, na prevenção das Infecções Sexualmente Transmissíveis (IST), nos municípios de Curitiba e Ponta Grossa, Paraná?’. Para responder à questão central, utilizamos a técnica de coleta de dados entrevista semiestruturada e entrevistamos 20 pessoas que se auto identificam como travestis e mulheres transexuais, nos municípios de Curitiba e Ponta Grossa, Paraná. Estas entrevistas ocorreram com base na técnica estatística de amostragem Snowball (GOODMAN, 1961) e foram analisadas com base na técnica de análise de discurso (BARDIN, [1977] 2016). Com base na literatura Queer e nas reflexões das Geografias das Sexualidades, compreendemos que o uso de preservativo e a realização de exames, são práticas do cuidado de si que compõe a relação saúde e doença dos corpos de travestis e mulheres transexuais. Embora em alguns casos tenha ocorrido a infecção do HIV/AIDS e demais IST, constatou-se que entre o grupo de travestis e mulheres transexuais entrevistadas, a prática do uso de preservativos aliado ao PrEP, se constituem como as práticas do cuidado de si na prevenção das IST.

Profile and Training on Gender Identity Among Health Professionals in the Caeté Region in the Eastern Amazon

Introduction: The National Policy on Integral Health of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transvestites, and Transsexuals (PNSILGBT+) aims to eliminate discrimination and institutional prejudice in public health services, with emphasis on training and enabling professionals to assist in the care of this population. However, for transsexuals and transvestites, this access continues to be neglected. Aim: To determine the profile of health professionals, their academic-professional training in health, and their knowledge about the specificities of gender identity. Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional, observational, quantitative survey conducted with health professionals working in the Caetés Region. Data were collected using a semi-structured questionnaire, which was applied online via Google Forms in the period from March 2021 to August 2021. Results: The sample consisted of 73 participants: 82.19% female, 100% cisgender, with a mean age of 32.37±7.80 years, and the majority self-declared as Catholic (65.75%). The largest number of health professionals were in Nursing (34.24%), practicing in Tertiary Care (50.68%), with an average time of service of 6.24±6.30 years. The volunteers reported that they did not understand the difference between cisgender and transgender people (57.53%), admitting that they had not received any training on gender identity or the healthcare of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transvestites, and Transsexuals (LGBT)+ people (79.45%). However, 87.67% understood the importance of training on this subject for the healthcare of this population. Conclusion: The academic training and professional development of health professionals are still lacking when it comes to the theme studied; a fundamental point needed to comply with the National Curricular Guidelines (NCDs) for courses in health, National Policy for Professional Development, and in particular, the PNSILGBT+. Clinical Implications: This study demonstrates the need for continued trainings on gender identity, health and care of the LGBT+ population, with a focus on transgender people, to eliminate institutional bias. Strengths and limitations: The research was based on the search for professionals' knowledge about gender identity, even in healthcare in a region in the interior of the Amazon, however it did not reach the preterit sample n, but it was important for the debate between the professionals reached and the institutions and their managers.
