Show more

“…A. albopictus normally feeds in the daytime and outdoor but can rest and feed indoors [41]. In the study setting, the adult mosquitoes were present during daytime, concentrated in all areas surveyed, corroborating the pattern of the population aggregate distribution, with mosquitoes concentrating in close areas [16].…”

“…There, this mosquito is typically present in areas with dense vegetation but has colonized consistently anthropic areas [10,15]. Brazilian studies have described A. albopictus presence in urban areas with reminiscent forests [5,6,13,[16][17][18][19][20][21][22], in slums [15], in suburban areas [13,16], and in peridomicile and intradomicile location [16,23], evidencing its dispersion across sylvatic and urban settings [10,15] and its domestication [15]. The ability to use natural and artificial containers of water for breeding [9, 12, 15-18, 21, 24] supports this ecological plasticity [25].…”

“…Oviposition traps have been used in several studies to monitor vector populations (Almeida et al , Fantinatti et al , Costa et al , Miyazaki et al , Carvalho‐Leandro et al , Resende et al ). Braga et al () and Cardoso et al () found higher sensitivity from oviposition traps than from larval surveys to detect Ae.…”

“…According to published research, an understanding of the habitat of a species is essential (McGill et al 2007). Such information is necessary for developing the sampling methods used for making surveillance and vector control decisions (Almeida et al 2006, Costa et al 2006.…”

“…To accommodate the random standards of a species, an analysis of the dispersion index and the probability distribution should be conducted (Maruyama et al 2002, Almeida et al 2006, Costa et al 2006), which has not been reported for Lu. longipalpis.…”
