PURPOSE:To compare the anesthetic induction time (IT) in the first and second surgery in rabbits. METHODS:Eighteen rabbits, weighing between 1.825 and 2.980kg. The anesthetic protocol consisted of premedication of ketamine and xylazine intramuscularly. The rabbits were anesthetized and the induction time was evaluated by compressing the animal's ear every 30 seconds. The IT was measure and than a saphenous vein surgery was made on the rabbit. Seven days after the first procedure, the same anesthetic protocol was performed and measuring the second IT. RESULTS:It was observed an increase of 50 seconds on the average value of second IT in relation to the average value of first. The IT variation between the first and second anesthetic procedure was between 0 and eight minutes for each animal. In 94.4% of the animals, there was variation greater than 30 seconds between the IT. CONCLUSION:There was difference between the first and second induction time in almost animals. PURPOSE:Compare the new training model for vessel ligation with the traditional using rabbits in the assessment. METHODS: From 106 academics of the Division of Operative Technique and Experimental Surgery, 36 were divided into two groups and offered them two training models of ligature. The group was invited to participate to an experimental procedure with rabbits and reproduce the technique trained. The procedure consisted of performing ligatures in saphenous veins of the legs of rabbits. The students were evaluated by objective criteria by an observer evaluator and answered a questionnaire at the end of the procedure. RESULTS: The medical students who have had training with the new model had a higher number of hits compared to the other group performing ligatures without clamping with hemostatic forceps (p<0.05). There was also a higher number of hits for the new model group to perform ligation temporary and permanent ligation with the use of forceps (p>0.05). The questionnaires indicated that the new model develops more ability to work in groups (p=0.088). CONCLUSIONS:The project promotes the implementation of the new model for training ligature, indicating that the new model is better to the traditional surgical practice.

Several materials have been injected or introduced in the vocal folds in attempt of solving the glottic insufficiency. However, few studies have evaluated the cicatricial process due to the implantation of these materials. Aim: The objective of this research was to evaluate the concentration of collagen after microsurgery graft of muscular fascia and fat in the vocal folds of rabbit. Study design: experimental. Material and Method: Nineteen rabbits were submitted to the graft insert in the right vocal fold, being nine of fascia and ten of fat. The left vocal fold was submitted to the same process, except for the insertion of fat or fascial graft. The rabbits were sacrificed after 90 and 180 days. The collagen was analyzed through the method of the Picrosirius-polarization using the Image Pro Plus software. Results: There was prevalence of the collagen in all grafted groups when compared with the group control. The concentration of the collagen found in the rabbits submitted to fat graft was significantly larger when compared to the concentration of the rabbits submitted to graft of muscular fascia, either with 90 as with 180 days. Conclusion: The fat and muscular fascia implantation in the vocal folds of rabbit promoted production of collagen, being more intense with fat.
