This study aimed to get to know the perception of nurses about weaknesses in the care for potential organ donors. This is an exploratory-descriptive study with a qualitative approach, involving eight nurses from a reference hospital. It used semi-structured interviews and the results were analyzed according to discourse analysis. Two categories emerged: "perception of nurses on working with potential organ donors" and "weaknesses in the care for potential donors". There is a limited role of the organ procurement organization. The barriers involve human and financial resources, family refusal, long wait for test results and structural problems. The work of this committee is limited to health care activities, in detriment of management. The professionals perceive weaknesses and fear negative repercussions. One must invest in structure and continuing education for this to be reflected in better care to potential donors and their family. Keywords: Tissue and organ procurement. Brain death. Nursing. Resumo Fragilidades na atenção ao potencial doador de órgãos: percepção de enfermeirosObjetivou-se conhecer a percepção de enfermeiros sobre fragilidades na atenção ao potencial doador de órgãos. Trata-se de estudo exploratório-descritivo, com abordagem qualitativa, envolvendo oito enfermeiros de hospital de referência. Entrevista semiestruturada foi utilizada e os resultados foram analisados conforme a técnica de análise do discurso. Emergiram duas categorias: "percepção dos enfermeiros sobre o trabalho com potenciais doadores de órgãos" e "fragilidades na atenção aos potenciais doadores". Verificou-se atuação limitada no âmbito da organização de procura de órgãos. Entraves envolvem recursos humanos e financeiros, recusa familiar, elevado tempo de espera por exames e problemas estruturais. Assim, o trabalho nesta comissão está limitado a ações assistenciais, em detrimento das gerenciais. Os profissionais percebem fragilidades e temem interferência negativa. Há que se investir em estrutura e educação permanente para que isso se reflita em melhor atenção ao potencial doador e sua família. Palavras-chave: Obtenção de tecidos e órgãos. Morte encefálica. Objective: To identify the productions that address the role of the intensive care nurse in the context of brain death, identifying their results and conclusions. Methods: It was used the literature integrative review in SciELO database with six stages, namely: problem formulation, data collection, data evaluation, analysis and interpretation of results and synthesis of knowledge. The data of the selected articles were organized into tables for better understanding of them. Results: There were 17 articles on theme, of these, 3 had the inclusion criteria of the study. Conclusion: One can see the relevance of a specific knowledge of health professionals, especially nurses, in donation and transplantation area, and the limited number of publications on the subject by the nurses and the precarious approach to donation and transplantation in the curriculum graduation. Descriptors RESUMENObjetivo: Identificar las producciones que abordan el papel del enfermero de cuidados intensivos en el contexto de la muerte cerebral, la identificación de sus resultados y conclusiones. Métodos: Se utilizó la revisión integradora literatura en la base de datos SciELO con seis etapas, a saber: formulación del problema, recopilación de datos, evaluación de datos, análisis e interpretación de los resultados y síntesis del conocimiento.Los datos de los artículos seleccionados se organizaron en mesas para una mejor comprensión de las mismas. Resultados: Se encontraron 17 artículos sobre el tema de estos, 3 tenían los criterios de inclusión del estudio. Conclusión: Se puede ver la relevancia de un conocimiento específico de profesionales de la salud, sobre todo enfermeras, en la donación y el trasplante de área y el número limitado de publicaciones sobre el tema de las enfermeras y el enfoque precaria a la donación y el trasplante en los planes de estudios de pregrado.

ABSTRACT:In Brazil, more than 30,000 patients are awaiting organ transplantation. The complexity of this therapeutic treatment requires specialized training and constant involvement from health care providers involved in care for these patients. In everyday practice, nurses are challenged to provide high-quality care to patients and families. In view of the need to define the nurse's role in the donation and transplantation process and the importance of disclosure in this field, we elaborated the present narrative review to discuss the role and responsibilities of the nurse working in an organ and tissue transplantation program. The literature found was read, summarized and organized into five thematic categories, namely: definition of the nurse's role in transplantation, the difference between the nurse practitioner and coordinator, legal and ethical aspects; research and information on transplant nursing and education on transplantation. It is concluded that the nurse needs knowledge about the principles of good practices and have resources available to assess the merits, risks and social issues related to transplantation. A complexidade desta modalidade terapêutica exige preparo especializado e constante da equipe de profissionais de saúde envolvidos no cuidado do paciente. No cotidiano da prática, o enfermeiro é desafiado a prover assistência com qualidade aos pacientes e familiares. Frente à necessidade de definir o papel do enfermeiro no processo de doação e transplantes e a relevância de divulgação desta área de atuação, elaborou-se a presente revisão narrativa que teve como objetivo tecer considerações sobre o papel e as responsabilidades do enfermeiro que atua em programa de transplantes de órgãos e tecidos. Os textos encontrados foram lidos, organizados e sintetizados em cinco categorias temáticas, a saber: definição do papel do enfermeiro no transplante, diferença entre o enfermeiro clínico e o enfermeiro coordenador de transplante, aspectos legais e éticos, pesquisa e informação e educação em transplantes. Conclui-se que o enfermeiro deve ter conhecimento dos princípios de boas práticas e ter recursos disponíveis para avaliar o mérito, riscos e questões sociais relacionadas aos transplantes.
