Polar extracts of Tapirira guianensis Aubl. were prepared for evaluation of biological activities. Identification and quantification of phenolic compounds, antioxidant activity, inhibition of acetylcholinesterase enzyme and antifungal potential were performed in all extracts. High contents of total phenols were detected in the ethanolic and aqueous extracts of the leaves (237.10±5.39 mg EAG/g and 346.46±5.67 mg EAG) respectively. The same extracts had a free radical scavenging potential by both DPPH and ABTS+ methods. Ethanolic extract of the leaves with IC50= 15.06±0.02 µg/mL and 16.49±0.01µg/mL) and aqueous extracts (11.54±0.01 µg/mL and 15.14±0.02 µg/mL respectively. In the study by high-performance liquid chromatography the phenolic substances were recorded: gallic acid, rutin, ellagic acid, quercetin and apigenin in the leaves and gallic acid and quercetin in the stem bark. Ethanolic and aqueous extracts of the leaves and stem bark showed high potency of inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, with IC50 values = 13.94±0.02 µg/mL, 13.69±0.08 µg/mL and 14.79±0.20 µg/mL respectively. The aqueous extract of the leaves showed anti-Candida action against all four strains of the microorganism. The in silico studies evidenced that all the ligands analyzed presented interaction with the SAP5 protein highlighting the ellagic acid, the rutin and the quercetin. With these results, the activities previously reported for the species T. guianensis are confirmed, highlighting the polar extracts, mainly aqueous as a source of antioxidant, acetylcholinesterase inhibitor and antifungal substances.

O Cerrado brasileiro possui uma grande diversidade florística ainda pouco estudada sobre os efeitos e possíveis atividades biológicas de interesse humano, como a inibição da acetilcolinesterase (AChE). Extratos florais liofilizados de diferentes espécies vegetais produzidos entre 2017-2022, mantidos a -12 °C, foram utilizados. O método de inibição da acetilcolinesterase utilizada, foi proposto por Ellman, modificado por Miloševića e colaboradores para leitor de microplacas espectrofotométrico UV-Vis de 96-poços, utilizando como controle positivo padrão a eserina. Dos 43 extratos florais sobre a inibição de AChE C. regium, J. ulei, O. spectabilis, O. lancifolia e S. ferrugineus apresentaram as mais altas taxas de inibição > 50%. Os extratos florais de A. humile, B. forficata, F. florida, H. stigonocarpa, H. courbaril, K. lathrophytum, M. guianensis, P. spruceanum, P. ovatum, Q. grandiflora, S. grandiflora, S. dysentericus, S. convallariodora, T. stenocarpa e Z. rhoifolium não demonstram nenhuma atividade sobre AChE. Os achados sobre os extratos florais em diferentes solventes neste estudo, elucidam a necessidade de um trabalho futuro na separação das fitomoléculas e determinação da atividade de inibição da AChE, promovendo como novas candidatas a moléculas no desenvolvimento de novos fármacos inibidores de AChE. Cerrado domain floral extracts and acetylcholinesterase inhibition ABSTRACT: The Brazilian Cerrado has great floristic diversity that is still poorly studied on the effects and possible biological activities of human interest, such as the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE). Lyophilized floral extracts of different plant species produced between 2017-2022, kept at -12 °C, were used. The acetylcholinesterase inhibition method used was proposed by Ellman, modified by Miloševića and collaborators for a 96-well UV-Vis spectrophotometric microplate reader, using eserine as a standard positive control. Tea is one of the most consumed non-alcoholic beverages, second only to water. Medicinal plants are commonly used because they are beneficial to health. Among the several plants used whit this aim, Miconia albicans (MA), widely used for joint pain, such as rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory processes, and Senna alexandrina (SA), indicated for constipation and even for slimming treatments stand out. However, a little number of researches concerned with the chemical composition of these plants can be found in the literature. Thus, this work aimed to determine metallic ions in MA and SA teas using an atomic absorption spectrometer. In vitro experiments with a simulation of the gastrointestinal digestion processes were also performed (to evaluate bioaccessibility) – after in house validation – using gastric and intestinal juice. Total phenolics and total flavonoids of teas and bioaccessible fractions were also quantified. 3 samples of MA and 5 of SA were analyzed. In all samples, the total and bioaccessible concentrations of Ca, Cu and Mg were quantified. The antioxidant activity of the teas showed that, for the total phenolic content, the concentration ranged from 22 ± 1 to 29 ± 3 mg g-1, the bioaccessible fraction was close to 90% for the two studied plants. For total flavonoids, the bioaccessible fractions range from 60% (MA) to 90% (SA).
