Maize is the second most produced grain in Brazil, which has the potential to produce green maize, which is maize harvested before physiological maturation. Aimed with this work evaluate three packages for postharvest conservation of green maize at room temperature in the conditions of the Brazilian cerrado. The double hybrid AG-1051 were planted. After the cobs were harvested, they were submitted to three treatments, each treatment with three repetitions and each repetition contained 4 cobs. The analyzes carried out were: fresh weight loss, instrumental coloring, titratable acidity content, ascorbic acid content and soluble solids. The results were submitted to the 5% Tukey test and regression. The treatment with polyethylene stood out for the loss of fresh mass, color of the maize cobs as for the levels of titratable acidity, presenting the best results and, for the same parameters, the maize cobs of the treatment with straw showed the lowest results, showing that the conservation straw cobs is the least suitable treatment. As for the content of ascorbic acid and soluble solids, the results showed no statistical difference for any of the treatments showing that they kept the contents unchanged during storage.

The baby corn has been gaining ground in the market and arousing interest of producers. However, there is a barrier in its production chain due to the lack of scientific knowledge in the harvest and post-harvest strategies. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the changes in the physicochemical characteristics of the baby corn stored at different temperatures and under controlled atmosphere. The studies were performed at UNIMONTES with the 'AG 1051' baby corn spikletes. Two tests were performed, one considering the spikelets in the straw and the other with the husked spikelets. The tests were carried out under CRD, in a 2 × 2 × 6 factorial scheme, that is two storage temperatures (16 and 25 °C), two controlled atmosphere conditions (with and without PVC plastic wrap) and six evaluation periods (0, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 days after harvest) with four replications. The quality characteristics of the spikelets were analyzed in the post-harvest. the post-harvest quality preservation of baby corn in the straw and the husked ones was affected by temperature, controlled atmosphere and evaluation period. The best storage condition to maintain the main quality characteristics of the spikelets at post-harvest was observed at the temperature of 16 ºC with controlled atmosphere use. For the spikelets preserved with the presence of straw, the maximum storage time for maintenance of post-harvest characteristics was four days, and for spikelets stored without straw, the maximum storage time was two days and 12 hours, both at refrigerated temperature (16 °C) and under controlled atmosphere.However, this vegetable presents a short post-harvest life, due to its active metabolism, and the shelf life of the product varies inversely with the respiration rate, causing reduction in water content, weight loss, changes in aroma, flavor and darkening of spikelets, making them undesirable regarding quality and appearance of the product (Bakry, El-Shorbagy, El-Desuki, El-Behairy, & Ibrahim, 2015; Saltveit, 2016).Aiming to develop the best strategy of storage of these horticultural crops, studies are necessary to guarantee the best yield and less waste of them. Some treatments, associated to refrigeration and controlled atmosphere storage, have shown good results in delaying senescence and prolonging life during storage (Vani, Rajasekhar, & Reddy, 2013).

O milho (Zea mays L.) pertence à família Poaceae, se destaca pela grande diversidade genética, adaptando-se em diversos climas. Este estudo tem como objetivo estudar o rendimento do milho verde e milho doce cultivadas no Tocantins. Os experimentos foram realizado na Universidade Federal do Tocantins – UFT, Campus de Palmas e Instituto Federal do Tocantins – IFTO, Campus de Paraíso, onde foram plantados 4 cultivares de milho ( C1, C2 e C3 de milho verde comum e C4 de milho doce), sobre diferentes ambientes, níveis de adubação e épocas de semeadura. Os rendimentos de grãos verdes da C4 foram semelhantes (p<0,05), pelo teste de Scott-Knott, com as C1 e C3 nos ambientes 2 e 4. Já nos ambientes 1 a C1 assemelhou-se com a C3, e no ambiente 3 a C3 teve um maior rendimento de 77%. Observa-se que o milho doce cultivado em Palmas - TO apresentou um rendimento de grãos verdes de 60 %, semelhante a C1, desta forma nota-se que mesmo em condições climáticas distintas e genótipos de milho diferentes, o milho doce apresentou viabilidade produtiva semelhante ao milho verde. Conclui-se que é importante estudar o rendimento dos grãos de milho doce e verde, pois influenciam na produtividade.
