Performance and Emission of Pollutants of an Agricultural Engine With Two Power Take-Off Settings

Abstract: Farming operations are usually performed implements driven by a power take-off (PTO) from tractors. Some manufacturers offer PTO settings named as economic (540E). Such configuration drives implements at lower tractor's engine rotation, thus providing lower fuel consumption. An engine performance using standard (540) or 540E settings are different and poorly studied. The amounts of pollutants emitted by engines vary mainly with the applied load and rotation. The aim of this study was to compare the performance… Show more

“…NRSC and NRTC tests (Ettl et al 2018) are used for tractors. Traction forces in connection with terramechanics was researched (Cutini and Bisaglia 2016), as well as the emissions and fuel consumption during real driving (Ince and Güler 2020) or during dynamometer simulation (Schlosser et al 2017). Souček et al (2017) (2017) was not calculated with different weights of load and we do not have any information about the engine and route profile and this might have caused the differences.…”

“…The results obtained in the experiment described in Table 1 showed a significant difference for the parameters ES, FDB, OS, PDB, and EDB. The lowest number of activated remote control valves (1 RCV) provided high FDB, OS, and PDB, which directly interfere with the energy and operational performance of the agricultural tractor (Gabriel Filho et al, 2010;Farias et al, 2017a;Schlosser et al, 2017;Martins et al, 2018;Lopes et al, 2019), with no statistical difference in SLP and HFC.…”
