While studies have been focused on the potential environmental and social impacts of such water transfer projects in Brazil (MI 2004;Caúla and Moura 2006;Henkes 2014), none of them has yet studied their potential in uence on groundwater availability due to aquifer recharge by channel transmission losses (Costa et al 2012;2013a).
