Genetic variability of Corynespora cassiicola isolates from Amazonas, Brazil

Abstract: Corynespora cassiicola is a cosmopolitan ascomycete widely known as phytopathogen in several crops, and more recently as an emerging pathogen in humans. In this study the genetic variability of 60 isolates of Corynespora cassiicola from different hosts and cities of Amazonas was evaluated, using AFLP molecular markers. Seven genetic groups were identified according to a dendrogram obtained by the Unweighted Pair Group Method using Arithmetical Averages, indicating significant variability among the isolates. Th… Show more

“…The wide host range of C. cassiicola and its cultivar preference were explained based on the pathogen diversity (Déon et al, 2014). Different genes of C. cassiicola have been amplified to construct phylogenetic trees to understand the evolution and variability of C. cassiicola isolates and to help build disease management strategies (Banguela-Castillo et al, 2020;Bentes et al, 2018;Déon et al, 2014;Dixon et al, 2009;Hieu et al, 2020;Nghia et al, 2008;Oktavia et al, 2017;Qi et al, ,2009Qi et al, , , 2011Shimomoto et al, 2011;Shrestha et al, 2017;Silva et al, 2003;Wu et al, 2019). Dixon et al, (2009) conducted the most prominent study on (Qi et al, 2009).…”

“…The genetic characterization of C. cassiicola has been evaluated using different techniques, including RAPD, ISSR, AFLP, iPBS and phylogeny (Silva et al, 2003;Dixon et al, 2009;Qi et al, 2011;Deon et al, 2014;Oktavia et al, 2017;Silva et al, 2018;Wu et al, 2019). In the case of phylogeny, partial regions of the β-tubulin gene, 1-α elongation factor (EF-1α), calmodulin and actin have been amplified, as well as internal transcribed spacers (Shimomoto et al, 2011;Oktavia et al, 2017).…”
