Correlation and path coefficient analyses of phenological traits, yield components and quality traits in wheat

Abstract: This study was conducted to characterize the phenological traits, yield components and quality traits affecting wheat grain yield. Three wheat genotypes were evaluated during three planting dates (November 20, December 5, and December 20) and at four seeding densities 300, 350, 400 and 450 seeds per m2 for two years. Multivariate analyses were conducted based on the interaction effects of planting date and seeding density (PS), planting date and genotype (PG) and seeding density and genotype (SG) mean values. … Show more

“…The values of positive correlation were recorded between grain yield and each of number of spikes. Fouad (2018), Rathod et al, (2019), Upadhyay (2020) and Milkessa ( 2022)), biological yield/plant Shamuyarira et al, (2019), AL-Najjar and Al-Zubaidy (2020), Baye et al, (2020), Semnaninejad et al, (2021) and Milkessa (2022)). In addition, the obtained values of correlations are in line with those obtained by Saleh (2017), Barman et al, (2020), Haydar (2020), Kadan et al, (2022), Mahdy Rasha et al, (2022 and Stojsin et al, (2022).…”

“…Zinc content path direct effect (0.065) was positive, but due to some traits such as hectoliter weight and crude protein which provided large indirect negative effect resulted in negative correlation value. Semnaninejad et al, [26] reported that the direct effect of wet gluten and total gluten on grain yield was negative, because starch accumulation increase due to photosynthesis and supply of assimilates caused reduction of fiber ratios in grain.…”
