Resumo Grandes quantidades de resíduos da agroindústria avícola são produzidas em áreas próximas aos criadouros, e muitas vezes esses resíduos são usados como fonte de adubação em pastagens, podendo alterar os atributos químicos e físicos do solo. O presente estudo objetivou avaliar os efeitos de aplicações de doses contínuas ao longo do tempo (até oito anos) de cama de peru nos atributos químicos e físicos de um Latossolo Vermelho distroférrico sob pastejo rotacionado. A área experimental foi dividida em 16 piquetes de 0,5 ha cada, e cultivada com Uroclhoa decumbens em sistema de pastejo rotativo. Os tratamentos foram dados por doses acumuladas de cama de peru, com aplicações anuais desde 2008 até o ano de 2015, sendo os seguintes: controle, 35,29; 51,79 e 66,24 Mg ha-1. O uso continuado de cama de peru por pelo menos 5 anos (35,29 Mg ha-1) promoveu incrementos nos teores de fósforo, potássio e a saturação por bases, além de reduzir a acidez e a saturação por alumínio. Alterações na matéria orgânica do solo, no entanto, foram encontradas somente após até 8 anos (66,24 Mg ha-1) de uso contínuo de cama de peru. Houve pouco efeito da utilização de cama de peru na relação Ca:Mg e também nos atributos físicos do solo, exceto pela macroporosidade na camada superficial, que foi maior nas doses intermediárias de cama de peru. ABSTRACT:In Southern Brazil, agricultural soils are often treated over long periods with annual pig slurry (PS) applications, and their influence on soil nutrient dynamics should be monitored. This study aimed to evaluate the P forms accumulated in the soil and some biological and biochemical parameters of the P cycle after 19 successive PS applications over eight years, in a no-tillage (NT) system. Pig slurry was applied at rates of 0, 20, 40, and 80 m 3 ha -1 per crop. Several P forms (available P, microbial P, phosphatase enzyme, total organic and inorganic P) in the 0.00-0.05 and 0.05-0.10 m soil layers were analyzed. Increases up to 5,523 % in available P, 308 % in microbial P, 104 % in phosphatase enzyme activity, 91 % in organic P, 251 % in inorganic P, and 19 % in Total-P were observed in the 0.00-0.05 m soil layer in response to the highest PS rate compared to the treatment with no PS. Results also indicated that P added via PS was preferentially accumulated in the inorganic fractions (83-98 %). The increase in organic P was limited by the increase in soil organic carbon. The increase in soil microbial biomass-P was more influenced by available P, while the increase in phosphatase enzyme activity was more related to the increase in organic P and C. Therefore, PS applied to the soil affected the chemical, biological, and biochemical components of the soil P cycle.Results indicate that even half of the PS rate normally used by farmers (20 m 3 ha -1) poses a high risk of pollution of water bodies by runoff from these soils.

Regionally restricted, hums-rich topsoils in Southwest Norway and the Baltic Sea region of Germany and Denmark were formed by inputs of various amendments (combustion residues and marine biomass) and, therefore, were classified as Anthrosols. For a deeper insight into the ancient management practices, we investigated the elemental and P-composition in the upper and underlying horizons from 12 soil profiles in the Jæren region, at the islands of Karmøy and Feøy (Norway), at the island of Fehmarn and the peninsula of Wagrien (Germany), and at the islands of Poel (Germany) and Sjaelland (Denmark). We used aqua regia digestion and the complementary methods of sequential P fractionation, phosphorus K-edge X-ray absorption near edge structure (P-XANES) spectroscopy, and 31P nuclear magnetic resonance (31P-NMR) spectroscopy. Results were compared with the composition of differently amended and/or un-amended soils from other studies. In addition, archaeological literature was used to confirm possible inputs of specific P-containing amendments in ancient agriculture. The P composition from SF of the Anthrosols in Norway (44% NaOH-Pi >1 8% NaOH-Po > 14% NaHCO3-Pi, 12% H2SO4-P > 7% NaHCO3-Po > 3% residual-P = 3% resin-P) and complementary archaeological literature provided strong indication for the use of peat, sheep manure, compost, and human excreta. The Anthrosols in the Jæren region have been formed from peat, which had been used as alternative bedding material and had been mixed with sheep and/or cattle manure. The P-composition in the Anthrosols at the island of Fehmarn and at the peninsula of Wagrien (42% H2SO4-P > 25% residual-P > 10% NaOH-Po, 8% NaOH-Pi: > 6% NaHCO3-Pi and NaHCO3-Po, 4% resin-P) resulted from the application of domestic cattle manure. This was strongly supported by archaeological findings of cattle bones in this region, as well as high proportions of Ca-P, as confirmed by P-XANES. The predominance of Po in the Anthrosols at the island of Poel and Sjaelland (31% NaOH-Po > 23% NaHCO3-Po, 21% H2SO4-P > 11% NaOH-Pi > 8% NaHCO3-Pi > 4% residual-P, 3% resin-P, in agreement with results from 31P-NMR) indicated low ancient inputs of various excrement or manure. This was supported by low livestock history at the island of Poel. In conclusion, these agricultural techniques can be considered as sustainable P recycling and soil amendment since they improved soil fertility for many generations.
