Background: Pressure ulcer represents a significant burden to the patient, family and healthcare organization. It has a great impact on quality of life physically, psychologically and socially leading to pain, increase a length of hospitalization and rehabilitation. Aim: To determine the effect of implementing pressure ulcer prevention educational protocol on nurses' knowledge, attitude and practice. Methods: A quantitative quasi-experimental study. A convenience sample of 100 nurses was voluntarily participating in the study.

Wound care is an important realm of nurses' clinical responsibilities, and a broad knowledge and range of skills are needed to perform efficient and safe patient care. Nurses' knowledge on this matter can be measured using knowledge tests. This study aims to identify, define, and analyse the knowledge tests developed for the measurement of nurses' wound care knowledge, and to evaluate the psychometric properties of the tests. This study was a systematic literature review. A total of 52 studies and 18 instruments were found. Of the 18 instruments, only 5 had been used more than once and were successful in a psychometric evaluation. These five instruments were analysed on the basis of their psychometric properties by using Zwakhalen et al.'s (2006) psychometric testing framework. According to the analysis, the Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Test (PUKT) and the Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Assessment Tool (PUKAT) were the most valid and reliable instruments for measuring nurses' wound care knowledge. Most of the instruments identified and analysed focused on pressure ulcers, indicating that future instruments could focus more on other types of wounds or on wound care in general in order to receive a broader understanding of nurses' wound care knowledge.

Conocimiento de los profesionales de enfermería en el uso de tecnología avanzada para el manejo de heridas crónicas 95 ARTÍCULO ORIGINAL/ORIGINAL ARTICLE Conocimiento de los profesionales de enfermería en el uso de tecnología avanzada para el manejo de heridas crónicas Knowledge of nursing professionals in the use of advanced technology for the management of chronic wounds Conhecimento dos profissionais de enfermagem no uso de tecnologiaavançada para o gerenciamentoferidas crónicas ResumenLas heridas crónicas se consideran un reto para la red de prestadores de salud y las instituciones formadoras de profesionales en salud porquedemandan para el abordaje integral de las personas que las padecen, talento humano de enfermería altamente cualificado en el uso de tecnología avanzada. Objetivo:Determinar el conocimiento de los profesionales de enfermería en el uso de tecnología avanzada para el manejo de heridas crónicas en Instituciones de salud, en Villavicencio -Meta. Materiales y Métodos:Estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo, cuasi-experimental de corte transversal, con medición antes y después de intervención.Muestra:Intencional (n=37) profesionales de enfermería con más de tres meses de trabajo y con responsabilidad del cuidado al paciente crónico. Instrumento diseñado por las investigadoras. Se planificó y desarrollo un plan de capacitación para actualizar a los participantes de manera presencial. Los datos se procesaron en SPPSS versión 23 y contó con el aval del Comité de Ética Institucional y el consentimiento informado de los participantes. Resultados:83.8% mujeres, promedio de edad 37 años, 11.2% promedio de años de experiencia, 56.8% con capacitación previa en curaciones de heridas crónicas, las heridas crónicas con mayor frecuencia de cuidado son abdomen abierto, úlceras de pie diabético y úlceras por presión, 83.7%con nivel conocimiento bajo y medio sobre caracterización de las heridas antes de la intervención y en la medición del conocimiento del uso de tecnología avanzada para el tratamiento de heridas crónicas posterior a la capacitación se presenta un incremento de 3.6 puntos en la medición, estadísticamente significativa p=<0.05. El proceso de capacitación promovió el conocimiento sobre el uso de tecnología en los profesionales participantes y resalta la necesidad de continuar con la formación permanente en el cuidado de pacientes con heridas crónicas y la actualización de los protocolos de las instituciones prestadoras de servicios de salud.
