An Investigation of Ac Impedance and Dielectric Spectroscopic Properties of Conducting Chitosan-silane Crosslinked-poly (Vinyl Alcohol) Blended Films

Abstract: The films of chitosan (CS)-silane crosslinked-poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) with different weight % were prepared. The effect on conductivity of CS/PVA blended films due to change in the concentration of PVA and temperature was investigated by impedance spectroscopy and showed good conductance properties. The complex impedance plots revealed single semicircular arcs indicating the bulk contribution to overall electrical behavior of all synthesized samples. The ac conductivity obeyed the Jonscher's power law for al… Show more

“…The frequency hopping was observed to shift toward higher-frequency regions with the increase in the temperature. At each temperature run, there were two regions with respect to frequency dependency: a frequency-independent region that was followed by a frequency-dependent region, concluding that our conductivity graphs obeyed Jonscher’s universal power law. , …”

“…The infrared spectra of NF-TFC membranes were studied in the range of 4000–500 cm −1 as shown in Figure 1 . The FTIR spectra shows bands at 893 and 1155 cm −1 , and confirmed the pyranose ring and saccharine structure of chitosan [ 22 , 23 ]. The bands at 1653 cm −1 and 1322 cm −1 exhibited the characteristics of chitin and chitosan, respectively, and are reported as amide I and amide III peaks, respectively.…”

“…However, peak shifted from 313 to 403 K, the peak height was also reduced towards a higher frequency referring to an increase in conductivity was noticed with increasing the temperature. The peak has shifted toward higher frequency with the conductivity increasing, and hence decreased the resistance in blends [14]. Higher values of f r with the increase of temperature were clearly observed and showed that the mobility of charge carriers increased with increasing temperature.…”
