The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of A. brasilense inoculation and nitrogen fertilization on green corn yield. The study was conducted out in Teresina, PI, in 2011 and 2012, and treatments were arranged in a randomized block design with fi ve N rates (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg N ha -1 ) with and without inoculation. In the inoculated treatment it was used a product with A. brasilense, strains Abv5 and Abv6. Ther… Show more

“…In general, few effects were observed on the contents of nutrients in the leaf tissues, including leaf N content, which was expected to increase because some studies have highlighted that the use of A. brasilense, despite not replacing N fertilization, can influence the partial reduction of the fertilization, as observed by Araújo et al (2014). Gitti et al (2012b) found that, in the absence of N supply as top-dressing, seed inoculation with A. brasilense led to better N nutrition.…”

“…shoot dry matter to wheat. Araújo et al [9] also reported increases in the number of green corn ears when bacteria were associated with gradual nitrogen dosage, suggesting other growth promotion mechanisms, such as auxin production, already described to rhizobacteria Despite the lack of statistical significance, the inoculants A and B, with the two strains, showed compared to treatments without inoculation or fertilization and that with 60 kg N/ha (half topdressing) (Fig. 1).…”

“…Besides burdening the budget, it can lead to environmental disturbances [6]. The biological N fixation (BNF) has been an important and viable alternative for several crops [7,8,9,10]. The technology of N-fixing bacteria inoculation is quite widespread [9,11].…”
