Abstract: rESumo:As contribuições dos pensadores medievais para o debate em torno da escravidão ainda são pouco conhecidas em seus detalhes. Junto com as abordagens na filosofia antiga, na patrística, no direito romano e no direito canônico, elas formam um corpo de textos e de ideias fundamental para se compreender o tratamento da escravidão do século XVI ao século XIX.
