Objective: To develop a proposal of a terminological subset of the International Classification for Nursing Practice for burned patients. Method: This is a methodological study following the steps: identification of clinical findings; mapping of terms; construction of statements of diagnoses/results and nursing interventions; content validation of statements; and structuring of the subset with the theoretical model of Basic Human Needs. Content validation was performed by 26 specialist nurses, through the Content Validity Index, with statements ≥ 0.80 being considered validated. Results: A total of 36 diagnoses/results and 119 interventions were validated. Among these, the ones with the highest index were: Respiratory System Function, Impaired/Respiratory System Function, Effective; Volume of Fluids, Impaired/Volume of Fluids, Effective; Burn Wound/Wound Healing, Effective; Pain, Acute/Pain, Absent, and as interventions: To Monitor Vital Signs; to Monitor Fluid Balance; to Treat Skin Condition; to Assess Response to Pain Management (Control). Conclusion: The validated statements depict the burned people basic human needs, with the psychobiological ones being the most prevalent.

Purpose Injury remains an important cause of death and disability globally, with 95% of all childhood injury deaths occurring in low-and lower-middle-income countries (LMICs). Pediatric trauma training, tailored to the resources in LMICs, represents an opportunity to improve such outcomes. We explored the nature of course offerings in pediatric trauma in resource-limited settings. Methods Seven databases were interrogated up to June 12, 2020, to retrieve articles examining pediatric trauma training in LMICs, as defined by the World Bank, without language restrictions. Independent authors reviewed and selected abstracts based on set criteria. Data from included studies was extracted and analyzed. An adapted Critical Appraisal Skills Programme checklist designed for cohort studies was used to assess the risk of bias. Results After screening 3960 articles for eligibility, 16 were included for final analysis. Course delivery methods included didactic modules, simulations, clinical mentorship, small group discussion, audits, assessments, and feedback. Knowledge acquisition was primarily assessed through pre/post-tests, clinical skills assessments, and selfassessment questionnaires. Twelve studies detailed course content, nine of which were based on the WHO Emergency Triage, Assessment and Treatment model, which is not specific to trauma. The other three studies involved locally developed pediatric trauma-focused training courses, including airway management, head trauma and cervical spine management, thoracic and abdominal trauma, orthopedic trauma, burn and wound management, and shock. Conclusion Despite being essential to decreasing pediatric trauma morbidity and mortality worldwide, educational programs in pediatric trauma are not a widespread reality in low-and-middle-income countries. The development of accessible and efficient pediatric trauma education programs is critical for improving pediatric trauma quality of care.

O Brasil apresenta em seu território a estimativa de 1.000.000 de ocorrências de acidentes por queimaduras por ano, sendo que, desses casos, apenas 100 mil se encaminham para ajuda hospitalar e, aproximadamente, 2.500 morrem devido a complicações diretas ou indiretas das queimaduras. A mortalidade das queimaduras se eleva quando se observa o comprometimento de outras estruturas orgânicas. Este trabalho tem por objetivo realizar uma revisão narrativa da literatura quanto à abordagem e avaliação inicial do paciente grande queimado no departamento de emergência hospitalar. Foi realizada uma busca eletrônica por artigos publicados em periódicos indexados através da base de dados PubMed, ScienceDirect e BVS Saúde, usando a seguinte combinação de descritores verificados na base DeCS/MeSH: ‘emergency medical services’ AND ‘burn injury’ AND ‘evaluation’. Foram admitidos estudos publicados entre janeiro de 2017 e outubro de 2022. A observação do estado hemodinâmico, a rápida avaliação assertiva do grau de comprometimento e o manejo da equipe multiprofissional em saúde são aspectos fundamentais para a melhora no quadro do paciente.
