“…Further studies on the possible transmission of SCCmec between CoNS from both, animal and human sources are warranted to gain a deeper understanding regarding these transfer mechanisms. Moreover, these findings together with microbial resistance programmes may assist hospitals and perhaps the respective regions to reduce the outbreaks or spread of the pathogenic clonal lineages of the CoNS species (64). In sum, it can be inferred that the variation in the SCCmec types may be influenced by geography, particular situational settings, and sources, and the differences in the data regarding the distribution types across countries are possibly due to the fact that these research studies were unable to detect certain types or intentionally detected only the types of interest.…”

“…Furthermore, both international transmission of ST72 isolates and interregional transmission within China were observed, with t148 being the most common spa typing ( Zhou et al, 2021 ). Although ST243 has fewer reports, it may colonize patient-to-contaminated healthcare worker transmission in hospital settings ( Ferreira et al, 2013 ). The presence of antibiotic-resistant, enterotoxigenic S. aureus strains acquired from livestock and hospitals in RTE fruits and vegetables is a public health concern.…”

“…In the city of Manaus, Amazonas state, Brazil, as yet, no data has been produced regarding prevalence and/or levels of antimicrobial resistance to Gram-positive bacteria sequence types (STs) that colonize healthcare professionals, hence the importance of this study. The only data is from a study performed by Ferreira et al [ 16 ], which identified new multi-resistant clones of S. epidermidis ST365 that were isolated from immunosuppressed patients who had been admitted to the city’s blood bank, where this study was realized. Therefore, the aim of this study is the detection of multi-resistant S.epidermidis and S. aureus , their prevalence and phylogenetic relationships, and the results of antimicrobial susceptibility tests of a new sequence typing (ST) that were performed on healthcare workers at the Hematology and Hemotherapy Foundation of the Amazonas - HEMOAM.…”
