Subclinical Diabetes

Abstract: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is increasing in prevalence worldwide, and those non-diagnosed or misdiagnosed comprise a significant group compared to those diagnosed. Accumulated scientific evidence indicate that the current diagnostic markers (fasting glycemia, 2h glycemia after an oral glucose load and HbA1c) are indeed late diagnostic criteria when considering the incidence of diabetes-related complications and comorbidities, which are also at high risk in some groups among normoglycemic individuals. Addi… Show more

“…We reasoned whether the typical lack of signal for oligomers in rodents could be an issue of tinctorial responsiveness or a dissimilar antibody titer between human and murine amylin aggregates, a feature also observed for other amylin variants [10]. In fact, such as OLIM could be detected in pancreas of elder humans without diagnosed overt diabetes [21], although a hyperhormonemic subclinical diabetes condition [22,23] could be responsible for such outcome. We were able to detect OLIM responsiveness for the A11 in 16-week old mice (Fig.…”

“…The semiarid region of the Brazilian Northeast is known for hosting a number of native species that are under systematic exploitation in recent years, without any sustainable management, which ultimately causes the extinction of some species, thus unleashing a rural exodus. Thus, the therapeutic potential of native plants must be scientifically demonstrated, so that it can be exploited in a rational and orderly manner [ 11 , 12 ].…”
