This is an ecological study analysing spatial patterns of the total mortality over the first 24 hours of life and that due to preventable causes using data from the mortality information system (SIM) and live birth information system (SINASC) based on the municipalities of Pernambuco State, Brazil. The total mortality rates over the first 24 hours and that due to preventable causes were calculated for each municipality for the decades of 2000 to 2009 and for 2010 to 2019 to enable a comparison of the spatial patterns with spatial scan statistic used to identify clusters. Over the first 24 hours of life, a total of 13,571 deaths were reported, out of which 10,476 (77.2%) were preventable. The total mortality rate over the first 24 hours of life decreased from 5.5 in the 2000- 2009 period to 3.7 per 1000 live births in the following decade: a reduction of 32.7%, while the mortality rate due to preventable causes decreased from 4.4 to 2.8 per 1000 live births, a reduction of 36.7%. In the first decade, spatial exploratory analysis found three mortality rate clusters encompassing 56 municipalities over the first 24 hours of life. With respect to preventable causes over the first 24 hours of life, two mortality rate clusters were identified encompassing 41 municipalities. Risk areas for mortality over the first 24 hours of life were detected through spatial scan statistic. This method, directed towards uncovering the geographical distribution of deaths of very premature infants, can act as a tool for identifying priority areas to guide healthcare interventions.

Objetivo: Caracterizar a produção científica acerca do pré-natal em dissertações e teses da enfermagem brasileira. Métodos: Estudo descritivo, documental, com abordagem quantitativa, realizado no período de março a abril de 2021, mediante acesso virtual ao Portal de Teses e Dissertações da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior. Resultados: Foram analisadas 320 dissertações e 75 teses, das quais observou-se predominância de estudos das regiões Sudeste (34,9%) e Nordeste (32,9%), orientados por enfermeiros (63,8%) vinculados a universidades públicas (77,9%), de departamentos de enfermagem (49,3%) e saúde coletiva (18,7%), que investigaram a assistência durante o pré-natal (34,7%), a partir de estudos transversais (77,5%), quantitativos (54,7%), realizados com gestantes (55,6%) e em Unidade Básica de Saúde (58,0%). Conclusões: O estudo permitiu compreender como o pré-natal tem sido pesquisado nas dissertações e teses de enfermeiros e as lacunas que podem ser alvo de futuros estudos.

Objective: To identify factors associated with antepartum pilgrimage in pregnant women in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. Method: A cross-sectional study with 300 postpartum women from a state reference maternity hospital, carried out from March 2020 to January 2021. The frequency of pilgrimage was estimated according to socioeconomic characteristics and prenatal care. Analysis with Pearson’s chi-square test selected variables for adjusted Poisson regression. Results: The frequency of antepartum pilgrimage to more than one health service was 34.3%. Not knowing the reference maternity hospital (1.16; 95%CI: 1.04–1.30) and not living close to the reference maternity hospital (1.16; 95%CI: 1.03–1.31) were associated with the occurrence of pilgrimage among women. Personal characteristics and prenatal care were not associated. Conclusion: There was an association between antepartum pilgrimage and lack of knowledge of the reference maternity hospital and residence far from that maternity hospital, which requires better team communication and the guarantee of easier access to obstetric care services, through effective implementation of regionalization of maternal care.
