Anthropometric study of the knee and its correlation with the size of three implants available for arthroplasty

Abstract: ObjectiveTo define the anthropometric profile of the knee in a Brazilian population with gonarthrosis using intraoperative measurements; and to evaluate the compatibility of three implants available for total knee arthroplasty.MethodsMorphometric data were collected prospectively from 117 subjects with gonarthrosis. Six dimensions in the distal femur and two in the proximal tibia were documented in 118 knees while performing total arthroplasty. These data were compared with the dimensions of three implants ava… Show more

“…6 The width of tML is also smaller than the study done by Loures et al in 2017, where tML = 70.9 ± 5.9 mm. 7 Otherwise, compared to the measurement done by Miyatake et al in 2016, mean width of tLAP and tMAP in our study is larger, where our study shows tLAP size is 45.4 ± 4.5 mm and tMAP is 48.9 ± 5.1 mm. 8 For Johnson&Johnson ® the size that suits to Semen Padang Hospital's patients is size 4 for femoral component, size 3 for tML and size 1.5 for tAP.…”

“…The sample presented a ratio of 3.29 females for every male, which is consistent with the literature 4, 19. No differences were observed in CRP variation regarding gender ( p  = 0.520), although Kraus et al 20 and Choi et al 21 have demonstrated significantly higher values in women.…”
