This paper describes an on-line magnetic distortion calibration procedure for a magnetometer. The horizontal magnetic field is calculated through the earth magnetic field sensed by 3-axes magnetometer. The ellipse equation is derived from a set of horizontal magnetic field data using least square method and calibration parameters are determined. The calibration process is performed iteratively until parameters are not renewed, and experimental results show the effectiveness of the devised method.
This paper treats the DIS (Digital Image Stabilization) problem subject to base motions such as translation, rotation and zoom. For the local motion estimation from a raw image, the Harris corner detection algorithm is exploited to extract feature points, and comparing those of consecutive images, the zoom ratio (scale factor) is computed. For the global motion estimation, an equivalent model is derived to account for a 3-dimensional composite motion from which the center point and Euler angle can be determined. Finally, the motion compensation follows. To show the effectiveness of the present DIS scheme, experimental results for synthetic images are illustrated. An EOTS (Electro-Optical Tracking System) provides stabilized images while tracking a moving target. This paper presents a novel concept of driving the outer gimbal first for improving the maneuverability of an EOTS, contrary to the conventional inner gimbal mode. It has the advantages of faster positioning performance and stable operation in Nadir-point. Analysis of frequency responses reveal that the present scheme results in a wider control bandwidth and larger gain margin, compared to those of the previous one. The actual experimental results confirm that the maneuvering is stable although the input command has a large angular acceleration.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
