The study was done to identify the influences of violence experience and violence response on burnout of emergency room nurses. Methods: The subjects of this study were 185 nurses who worked in emergency rooms of 3 university and 15 general hospitals. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Sheffe test, Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression analysis using SPSS version 12.0. Results: The major findings of this study were as follow: There were significant differences in age, education, emergency room career, position, exercise in general characteristics. There were significant positive correlation between violence experience and burnout, violence response and burnout. The significant factors influencing burnout were job stress, verbal violence, violence preventive program. Shift pattern, which explained 28% of the burnout. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop an intervention program for emergency room nurses to improve job stress, verbal violence, violence preventive program. Shift pattern
Purpose:The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing on practice of healthcare-associated infection control among clinical nurses. Methods: The subject of this study were 118 nurses who worked in medical·surgical ward and ICU of 2 general hospital in Gwangju city. Data were collected with a questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis using SPSS/WIN 12.0. Results: The major findings of this study were as follow: There were significant positive correlation between knowledge, recognition, empowerment and practice of healthcare-associated infection control. The significant factors influencing practice of healthcare-associated infection control were recognition and empowerment, which explained 68.8% of the practice of healthcare-associated infection control. Conclusion: These results indicate that recognition on healthcare-associated infection control and empowerment among clinical nurses should be reinforcement via consistent education, administrative and organizational support at the level of hospital.
Sugar profiles of 45 Korean honey samples (15 acacia, 15 multi-floral, 10 chestnut, and 5 artificial honey samples), which are commercially available in the Korean markets, were analyzed using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) through TMS-oxime and TMS-methoxime derivatization. The average invert sugar contents in acacia, multi-floral, chestnut, and artificial honey samples were 71.2±1.05, 68.7±3.26, 63.2±1.85, and 68.0±2.10%, respectively. Fourteen disaccharides were detected from the samples, and the average content of major disaccharides was higher in order of turanose, maltulose, maltose, trehalulose, kojibiose, isomaltose, and nigerose. The average content of total disaccharides was highest in chestnut and lowest in acacia. Seven trisaccharides were detected from the samples, and the average content of trisaccharides was the highest in artificial honeys, which had high erlose content. The total content of disaccharides and trisaccharides was highest (16.0±2.03%) in chestnut honey and lowest (9.70±1.75%) in acacia honey.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of job stress and organizational commitment, as well as to identify the factors that influence patient safety management activities among the operating room nurses. Participants were 136 nurses working at 1 university hospital and 9 general hospitals located in G metropolitan city. The data were collected between July 25 and August 7, 2014 using structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS version 21.0. The level of job stress, organizational commitment, and patient safety management activities was 3.76, 3.09, and 4.15, respectively, out of a 5-point scale. Patient safety management activities were significantly correlated with organizational commitment. The significant factors that influence patient safety management activities were organizational commitment and number of patient safety education, which explained 23% of patient safety management activities. In conclusion, organizational commitment and patient safety education have a positive effect on the improvement of patient safety management activities of operating room nurses. It is necessary to develop various intervention programs for operating room nurses to improve organizational commitment and should be reinforced via continuous, systematic patient safety education on patient safety management.
