The article reveals the problem of national-patriotic education of preschool children. It was revealed that the problem of personality formation in the process of national-patriotic education was and remains the subject of study by many researchers, not leaving out outstanding Ukrainian teachers. Іt is determined that patriotism as a spiritual and moral value has always been a priority task for the functioning of the state, the formation of society, and the development of the individual. Patriotic education should be the core of all educational work, since we should educate a person who has a sense of pride for his state, conscientiously fulfills public duties, is aware of the social needs of the Motherland and the Ukrainian people, and loves his relatives and loved ones. Without it, a person has no face, he loses himself. It was found out that it is during preschool childhood that the foundations of consciousness and self-awareness are laid (the child begins to understand social values, begins to apply moral norms). Especially this time is the most successful for the formation in it of the fundamentals of national consciousness (ethnicization), which include the awareness of one's belonging to the nation, the awakening of love and respect for the national language, traditions, symbols, and the emergence of fundamental features of the national character. We understand that the problem of forming the civic-patriotic consciousness of children is gaining more and more importance at the modern stage.The main tasks, directions of educational work on the national-patriotic upbringing of children in preschool education institutions, methods of involving parents in this work, and the use of the national-cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people are considered. The nurturing of national consciousness and self-awareness, the instillation of moral ideals and value orientations begins from early childhood, from the first years of a child's life.
