Purpose. To assess the existing disorders in patients with tinnitus using the "Tinnitus" mobile application developed by us.Materials and methods. The article presents the results of diagnosis of 146 patients suffering from tinnitus (subjective) with various comorbidities. The age of the patients ranged from 18 to 80 years (52 years in average). The sample included 70 men (47.9%) and 76 women (52.1%) All patients underwent a standard examination of otorhinolaryngological organs. For the purpose of screening diagnostics of tinnitus (subjective), the "Tinnitus" mobile application was used, which includes two modules: diagnosis and treatment. The diagnostic block is represented by the following sections: 1) Tinnitus Handicap Inventory questionnaire (version adapted by the author) and results output; 2) tone audiometry; 3) psychoacoustic noise level.Results. According to the results of our study, the patients in the age group from 45 to 59 years old complained of tinnitus most often, at the age ≥70 years the cases of tinnitus were rare, as well as at the age ≤20 years. All patients filled the THI questionnaire scored 18 points or more. Audiometric examination revealed hearing loss of varying severity in 39.0±4.0% of patients. When conducting psychoacoustic noise metering, 109 patients with high-frequency tinnitus were detected. The obtained individual results of the patient will be built automatically into the treatment module of the "Tinnitus" mobile application for their further use, in order to suppress or reduce the severity of subjective tinnitus.Conclusion. Analyzing the results obtained, it was found that the "Tinnitus" mobile application is a modern, highly reliable, effective tool for diagnosing subjective tinnitus, which allows subjective evaluation of the level and severity of tinnitus in patients and subsequently select a treatment in a timely manner.
Purpose. To present a medical and technical description and evaluation of the "Tinnitus" mobile application developed by us with acoustic and visual stimulations for the treatment of patients suffering from subjective noise in ears.Materials and methods. The study included the usage of the "Tinnitus" mobile application developed and registered by us. The application consists of two modules – diagnosis and treatment ones. The diagnostic module is based on the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory presentation for dynamic evaluation of treatment’s results; psychoacoustic noise logging for evaluation of tinnitus degree. Based on the results obtained, treatment is carried out in the form of automatic selection of a multimedia complex of visual stimulations adapted to the patient for additional distraction of attention and various options for acoustic stimulation to mask tinnitus. The treatment module consists of acoustic stimulation (audio) and visual stimulation (game/gallery). The article presents the results of the treatment of 100 patients diagnosed with: H93.1 Subjective noise in ears with other co-morbidity.Results. We present the medical and technical description and justification of the Tinnitus mobile application. This method showed its effectiveness in the treatment of subjective tinnitus of any etiology in the form of relief in 26.0±4.4% patients and a decrease in the severity of tinnitus in 57.0±4.9% patients. Moreover, the additional use of visual stimuli enhanced the effectiveness of acoustic stimuli in suppressing tinnitus.Conclusions. The method presented by us is non-invasive, individual, comprehensive, simple, easy to use, and safe. Moreover, the correctness of the diagnostic stage (psychoacoustic noise logging) defines further effectiveness of treatment consisting of several methods (acoustic and visual stimulation) which confirms individuality and comprehensibility of the proposed approach of this method for achieving positive result in the treatment of subjective ears noise.
