The purpose of this study was to investigate the proteflazid extraction antimicrobial action onto causative agents of infectious and inflammatory diseases occurring during dental implant placement. Materials and methods. We studied clinical strains of Streptococcus sanguinis, Staphylococcus warneri and Kocuria kristinae, isolated from oral mucosa of patients who were diagnosed with peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis. The cultivation of strains was carried out by standard method. Final identification was carried out with an automatic bacteriological analyzer Viteck 2 compact bioMérieux (France) according to manufacturer's instructions. The sensitivity of derived strains to proteflazid and to 96 % ethyl alcohol assessment was done by double serial dilutions according to the standard procedure.Results. The clinical strains of Streptococcus sanguinis, Staphylococcus warneri and Kocuria kristinae were found to be sensitive to effects of proteflazid extract. K. kristinae was proven to be the least susceptible strain. But the clinical strain of Streptococcus sanguinis was found to be the most sensitive to proteflazid extract. 96 % ethyl alcohol, which is a component of the extract, showed a bactericidal effect on the clinical strains in the study, but its minimal bactericidal concentration was significantly lower than minimal bactericidal concentration of the proteflazid extract. Conclusions. The proteflazid extract can produce antimicrobial effect on the clinical strains of Streptococcus sanguinis, Staphylococcus warneri and Kocuria kristinae, which colonize the oral mucosa of patients with infectious and inflammatory complications following dental implant placement. Antimicrobial action of the proteflazid extract is much higher than action of 96 % ethyl alcohol that confirms the direct antimicrobial action of flavonoids, which are components of the studied extract.
This article for the first time describes the frequency rate of detecting various surgical infections depending on the number of pathogens and the spectrum of the microorganisms found in surgical patients of the Poltava Regional Clinic Hospital, Ukraine. The objectives include the identification of the etiological spectrum of pathogens causing purulent inflammatory diseases in inpatients of the surgical unit. Materials and methods. On the basis of the bacteriological laboratory, we studied 121 biological samples taken from the patients of the surgical unit. Microflora isolation was performed on nutrient media by bacteriological method. Microorganisms isolated from various biosubstrates were identified using API biochemical test systems (BioMerieux, France). Based on the findings obtained, the occurrence rate of certain pathogens and their associations was calculated (%). Results and discussion. The study demonstrated the prevalence of mono-infections, which make up 67%, caused by Staphylococci, mainly S. Aureus in the surgical patients. In general, gram-negative bacteria are prevalent, among which Klebsiella and Acinetobacter are found out as the most prevalent pathogens; among Gram-positive microorganisms, Enterococci were identified more often in association with other bacteria. Conclusions. The study has shown among the causative agent resulting in diseases requiring surgical treatment, gram-negative bacteria predominate, among which Klebsiella and Acinetobacter are the most often detected. Among gram-positive cocci, Enterococci are typically detected in the association with other bacteria; most often, this pathogen is isolated in monoculture, mainly represented by staphylococci.
The work was aimed to determine the level of oral dysbiosis of patients depending on the type of prosthetics constructures. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study involved 48 patients with the presence in the oral cavity of fi xed dentures from 4 to 6 units with a service life of no more than 3 years. The samples of plaque from the vestibular surface of dentures were collected to determine the microorganisms in the gingival plaque. Bacteriological research was carried out by the multiplex polymerase chain reaction in real time using the Phemofl or 8 reagent kit. The degree of dysbiosis of the oral cavity was determined according to the classifi cation of V. Khazanova. RESULTS: The results of the study of patients' samples did not reveal signifi cant changes in the microbial landscape of the cervical areas. The total bacterial mass in the group of healthy individuals was lower than the total bacterial mass of patients in the investigated group signifi cantly. IV degree of oral dysbiosis with a decrease in the number of lactobacilli, streptococci was characteristic of patients of denture wearers. The II degree of dysbiosis in patients with metal-ceramic structures was established. Patients who used solid cast and metal-plastic structures were diagnosed with II-III degree of dysbiosis of the oral cavity. The worst indicators were characteristic of prosthesis wearers of stamped-brazed structures. CONCLUSIONS: Quantitative indicators of the composition of the microbiota of the cervical areas of denture wearers have signifi cant differences and different levels of dysbiosis of the oral cavity, depending on the type of dentures in the patients' mouth (Tab. 2, Fig. 1, Ref. 21).
