Bacillus cereus is a common and important food-borne pathogen that can be found in various food products. Due to low-temperature sterilization for a short period of time, pasteurization is not sufficient for complete elimination of B. cereus in milk, thereby cause severe economic loss and food safety problems. It is therefore of paramount importance to perform risk assessment of B. cereus in pasteurized milk. In this study, we isolated B. cereus from pasteurized milk samples in different regions of China, and evaluated the contamination situation, existence of virulence genes, antibiotic resistance profile and genetic polymorphism of B. cereus isolates. Intriguingly, 70 samples (27%) were found to be contaminated by B. cereus and the average contamination level was 111 MPN/g. The distribution of virulence genes was assessed toward 10 enterotoxigenic genes (hblA, hblC, hblD, nheA, nheB, nheC, cytK, entFM, bceT, and hlyII) and one emetic gene (cesB). Forty five percent strains harbored enterotoxigenic genes hblACD and 93% isolates contained nheABC gene cluster. The positive rate of cytK, entFM, bceT, hlyII, and cesB genes were 73, 96, 75, 54, and 5%, respectively. Antibiotic susceptibility assessment showed that most of the isolates were resistant to β-lactam antibiotics and rifampicin, but susceptible to other antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin, gentamicin and chloramphenicol. Total multidrug-resistant population was about 34%. In addition, B. cereus isolates in pasteurized milk showed a high genetic diversity. In conclusion, our findings provide the first reference on the prevalence, contamination level and characteristics of B. cereus isolated from pasteurized milk in China, suggesting a potential high risk of B. cereus to public health and dairy industry.

This communication presents a wideband circularly polarized (CP) 2 2 patch array using a sequential-phase feeding network. By combining three operating modes, both axial ratio (AR) and impedance bandwidths are enhanced and wider than those of previous published sequential-fed single-layer patch arrays. These three CP operating modes are tuned and matched by optimizing the truncated corners of patch elements and the sequential-phase feeding network. A prototype of the proposed patch array is built to validate the design experimentally. The measured -dB impedance bandwidth is 1.03 GHz (5.20-6.23 GHz), and the measured 3-dB AR bandwidth is 0.7 GHz (5.25-5.95 GHz), or 12.7% corresponding to the center frequency of 5.5 GHz. The measured peak gain is about 12 dBic and the gain variation is less than 3 dB within the AR bandwidth.

The thermoacoustic response of carbon nanotube (CNT) thin films at frequencies ranging from 300 Hz up to 100 kHz has been studied in a variety of gaseous mediums. Theoretical derivations show that the sound pressure generated by CNT thin films is approximately proportional to the inverse of the heat capacity of the gas within the audible frequency range of human hearing, which is consistent with the experimental results in argon, air, and helium. For large size CNT films, a decrease in sound pressure is observed within a higher frequency range in air, which is attributed to the destructive interference of sound waves in the near field zone according to the theoretical calculations.

This paper presents preliminary design guidelines specifically for diagrid tube structures composed of straight diagonals with gradually changing angles. A graphic approach to configurating a diagrid of this type is introduced, with two basic geometric variables involved, i.e. the bottom and top diagonal angles. In terms of both stiffness and strength design criteria, a methodology for calculating diagonal member sizes is developed and applied to a set of diagrid tube structures with height‐to‐width aspect ratios ranging from 3.6 to 9. The diagrid tube structures are designed with various combinations of bottom and top angles in order to investigate the effects of bottom and top angles on the material usage. Based on the results, the optimal values of bottom and top angles are suggested, then, the optimal geometries for diagrid tube structures with different aspect ratios are determined. This paper attempts to help the designer arrange the structurally efficient diagrid layout conveniently and perform approximate calculations of the diagonal member sizes.
