Immigrants have difficulties in the use of essential health services such as vaccinations. Vaccine uptake among pregnant immigrant women is very low. The aim of the study was to examine the vaccination status of pregnant immigrant women who received health services in an immigrant health center (IHC) affiliated to primary health care institutions. The research is a retrospective-designed cross-sectional type of study. The study sample consists of pregnant Syrian women who received health care from the strengthened IHC of a District Health Directorate in Istanbul between August 2020 and 2022. Age, trimesters, number of pregnancies, high-risk pregnancy status, vaccination dates and status against influenza, COVID-19 and tetanus, and vaccine types of COVID-19 were evaluated. The statistical significance level was determined as p < 0.05. None of the pregnant women had received the influenza vaccine. Of the women whose tetanus vaccine data were evaluated, 29.7% had received at least two doses of the tetanus vaccine. Of the pregnant women, 19.4% were vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum two doses and 4.2% had a COVID-19 infection during their pregnancy. None of the women with the COVID-19 infection were fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The vaccine uptake of pregnant immigrant women is very low. Public health interventions are needed to improve vaccination coverage among disadvantaged groups.

Background Perinatal mental health is a major public health concern. In Turkey, the public hospitals operate pregnancy schools which provides an opportunity to integrate an evidence-based Thinking Healthy Programme (THP) for perinatal depression. The aim of this study is to adapt the THP for universal use in the group setting, and to understand its acceptability and feasibility for integration into the existing antenatal care programme for both face-to-face and online delivery. Methods Following an expert-led adaptation process using the Bernal Framework, field-testing was conducted on a group of women and facilitators (n=21) followed by in-depth interviews and group discussions. Data were analysed using Thematic Framework Analysis. Results Minor but significant adaptations were made to the individually delivered THP for use in the universal group pregnancy schools. Initial findings indicate that the THP-group version was relatable and acceptable to its target population and could be integrated into the antenatal care plan for delivery during face-to-face and on-line group classes. Conclusion THP is transferable to the Turkish cultural and healthcare context. The THP – group version has the potential to add value to Turkey's existing perinatal healthcare programme.

Drug-induced neuropsychiatric effects are important for disease management. We aim to evaluate the neuropsychiatric effects of montelukast–levocetirizine combination therapy in children. This descriptive study was conducted with children aged 2–5 years, diagnosed with asthma and allergic rhinitis, who began to receive montelukast and levocetirizine combination therapy. The respiratory and asthma control test for children (TRACK), Rhino Conjunctivitis Scoring System (RCSS), and common neuropsychiatric effects (irritable behavior, hallucinations, headaches, nightmares, sleep disorders, behavioral and mood disorder, restlessness, depression) were ascertained by the questionnaire applied before and 4 weeks after the treatment. Parents answered on behalf of their children. The most common finding before and after treatment was irritable behavior. While irritable behavior was observed in 82.4% (n = 56) of children before the treatment, this percentage was 63.2% (n = 43) after the treatment (p = 0.004). The percentage of children who developed at least one neuropsychiatric symptom after treatment was 22.1% (n = 15). There was no significant effect of age, gender, RCSS, TRACK, or allergy test positivity on the development of neuropsychiatric symptoms (p > 0.05). According to the results, at least one neuropsychiatric finding developed in approximately one in five children. Identifying risk factors will enable more careful treatment or consideration of alternative treatments for children at higher risk in the clinical follow-up period.

Üniversite öğrencilerinin mevcut ruhsal bozukluk semptomlarının ve bunların sosyodemografik faktörler ile olası ilişkilerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Kesitsel tipteki araştırmanın evrenini 2018-2019 eğitim-öğretim yılında üniversitede öğrenim görmekte olan lisans öğrencileri oluşturmaktır. Sınıf seviyesine göre tabakalandırılarak her fakülteden öğrenci sayısıyla orantılı olacak şekilde tabakalı rastgele örneklem yöntemi ile 814 katılımcı ile çalışmamız yürütülmüştür. Veriler gözlem altında katılımcılar tarafından doldurulan sosyodemografik özelliklere yönelik soru formu ve Kısa Semptom Envanteri (KSE) ile toplanmıştır. Veri analizinde Ki kare, Mann-Whitney U ve Kruskal Wallis testleri kullanılmıştır. Çok değişkenli analizde çoklu lineer regresyon kullanılmıştır. İstatiksel olarak, p&lt;0,05 anlamlılık düzeyi olarak kabul edilmiştir. Katılımcıların %70,5’i (n=574) kadın, yaş ortalaması 21,04±1,64’tür. Katılımcıların fakültelere göre dağılımına bakıldığında %38,5’i (n=312) Tıp Fakültesi, %39’u (n=316) Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi, %22,5’i (n=182) Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi’ndendir. Birinci, ikinci, üçüncü ve dördüncü sınıfların dağılımları ise sırasıyla %37,0 (n=297), %33,7 (n=270), %28,4 (n=228) ve %0,9’dur (n=7). Öğrencilerin yaşadıkları yer ve öğrenim gördükleri sınıf anksiyete durumu ile; kadın cinsiyet, yetersiz gelir ve üniversiteye yeni başlamak depresyon puanı ile ilişkili bulunmuştur (p&lt;0,05). Gelirini yetersiz bulanlar ile üniversiteye yeni başlayanların olumsuz benlik ve karşıtlık puanları daha yüksek iken (p&lt;0,05); kadınların ve 1.sınıfların somatizayon puanları da anlamlı olarak daha yüksek saptanmıştır (p&lt;0,05). Çok değişkenli analiz sonuçlarına göre 3.sınıfta öğrenim görme, sigara kullanmama ve daha önce psikiyatrik tanı almama anksiyete için; erkek cinsiyet, 3.sınıfta öğrenim görme , gelirin yeterli olması, sigara kullanmama ve daha önce psikiyatrik tanı almama depresyon için; 3.sınıfta öğrenim görme, gelirin yeterli olması, sigara kullanmama ve daha önce psikiyatrik tanı almama olumsuz benlik ve karşıtlık puanları için koruyucu bulunmuşken; erkek cinsiyet, 3.sınıfta öğrenim görme, sigara kullanmama ve daha önce psikiyatrik tanı almama bedenselleştirme için koruyucu bulunmuştur (p&lt;0,05). Üniversite öğrencilerinde ruhsal bozukluklar sık görülmektedir. Çalışmamızda öğrencilerin ruhsal durumları değerlendirilmiş ve ruhsal durumun pek çok faktör ile ilişkili olabileceği bulunmuştur. Üniversitedeki ilk yıllarında olan katılımcılarda daha fazla psikiyatrik belirti gözlenmektedir. Gelirini yetersiz bulan öğrencilerin depresyon, olumsuz benlik ve karşıtlık alt ölçek puanları daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Literatürde çalışmamıza benzer şekilde finansal stabilitesi olmayan ailelerde yetişen öğrencilerde depresyon ve anksiyete semptomlarının görülme olasılığı daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Depresyon ve bedenselleştirme için kadın cinsiyet riskli bulunmuştur. Literatürde tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinde yapılan bir çalışmada da kadın öğrencilerde psikolojik morbidite riski erkeklere göre 3 kat daha riskli bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin öğrenim gördükleri sınıf, sigara kullanımları ve daha önce psikiyatrik tanı almış olmaları tüm alt faktörler ile ilişkili bulunmuştur. Depresyon ve bedenselleştirme için ise kadın cinsiyet riskli olarak görünmektedir. Ayrıca gelir durumunu yetersiz bulma ile depresyon, olumsuz benlik ve karşıtlık durumları ilişkili bulunmuştur. Üniversite öğrencileri için psikolojik danışmanlık ve rehberlik hizmetlerinin geliştirilmesi problemlerin üstesinden gelmelerine yardımcı olabilecektir.

Purpose: E-health illiteracy has disadvantages including misevaluation of medical information displayed on the internet. Both effective self care management and e-health literacy are important terms in order to control of the chronic diseases. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between e-health literacy and the self-care management of patients with Type-2 diabetes. Materials and Methods: The type of the study is descriptive. A questionnaire was applied to individuals who have been diagnosed with Type-2 diabetes in the endocrine policlinic of the internal medicine clinic of a tertiary state hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. The sample size was calculated as 384 by accepting the adequate e-health literacy rate among Type-2 diabetes patients as 50%, the margin of error 5%, and the confidence level as 95%. In addition to sociodemographical questions; our questionnaire contains two scales: Self-Care Management Protection scale and the E-health Literacy Scale. Number (n) and percentage (%) values were used in the expression of descriptive data. Mean, standard deviation, median and minimum, maximum values were given. For data comparison; Mann-Whitney U test was used for non-normally distributed variables. The Spearman correlation used to measure the linear relation between two numeric variables. Significance level has been accepted as p<0.05. Results: Totally 330 patients were included our study by a participation rate of 85.9 %. The mean age of the participants was 57.74±13.83 and 52.4% were female. A positive correlation was observed between scores of e-health literacy scale and self-care management scale (r=0.235, p<0.001) and self- protection subscale of self-care management scale (r= 0.345, p<0.001). A negative correlation exists between age and e-health literacy (r= -0.419, p<0.001). Conclusions: The results support the claim that individuals with a higher e-health literacy can better able to control their disease through self- management.
