Pek çok disiplin ile doğası gereği ilişkisi bulunan sinema disiplininde, geleceğe ilişkin kurgular, uzun yıllardan beri tartışılmaktadır. Bu tartışmanın söz konusu olduğu önemli disiplinlerden biri ise mimarlıktır. Bu yazı kapsamında gelecek temasının kurgu mekânlar aracılığı ile sinemadaki tezahürü, dönemsel tarih yazımı yöntemi ile irdelenmiştir. Bu yöntemde, 1960’lardan günümüze, 1. ve 2. Uzay Çağı dönemlerine göre mimarlık ile sinema arasındaki etkileşim vaka analizi yöntemi ile ele alınmış ve geleceğe ilişkin kurgular sunan seçili çizgi dizi ile animasyon ürünler üzerinden bir değerlendirme gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma evreninden, tabakalı seçkisiz örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen örnekler (Jetgiller, Astro Çocuk, Transformers, Genç Bir Robot Olarak Hayatım, Aşk, Ölüm, Robotlar ve Vol-i) çalışma kapsamında değerlendirilmiştir. Bu örneklerin seçilmesinin öncül nedeni, burada işlenen kurgu mekânların yalnızca hayal gücü ile sınırlı olması ve geleceğe dair tahayyül edilen teknolojinin, malzemenin ve mekânsal niteliklerin kolayca yansıtılabilmesidir. Bu çalışma kapsamında, dönemler arasındaki ve vakalar arasındaki ilişki ile etkileşimi anlayabilmek adına ayrıca bir karşılaştırmalı anlatım, çeşitli kent ve mimarlık yaklaşımlarını aktarabilmek için kullanılmıştır. Bu anlatımda, ayrıca dönemin sosyal, kültürel arka planı, tüketim alışkanlıkları ve düşünsel alt yapısı yansıtılmıştır.
