Monitoring of urbanized territories showed a number of problems, including the flooding of large cities after precipitation; poorly maintained, often densified condition of lawn lands, parks and other areas; soil erosion etc. Some innovation methods of solving these problems are proposed, developed by scientists of Kabardino-Balkarian State Agrarian University named after V.M. Kokov.
The paper presents the accumulated experience in the construction and operation of gabions. The results of field surveys of gabions, their advantages and disadvantages, which must be taken into account in environmental practice, are presented. Innovative developments of sloping fasteners made of semi-cylindrical gabions and their construction technologies are presented. Variants of flexible retaining walls of semi-cylindrical gabions are proposed, with lower specific pressures on the soil of the base and enhanced bearing capacity on the action of bending moments. Experimental studies of prismatic and cylindrical gabion models have been carried out for a comparative assessment of their work.
The proposed methodology for the selection of the optimal design solution of the coastal protection structure, adapted to the specific hydrological, hydraulic and morphological conditions of the river according to an integral indicator, including the reliability of the structure; economic and environmental indicators. Innovative solutions to protect the banks of rivers from erosion, patented in the Russian Federation, decision-making modeling algorithms are presented. The developed theory and methodology for choosing the optimal solution can be implemented on other subsystems.
