In this large, prospective, multinational cohort, more than one half of all cases of non-HACEK gram-negative bacillus endocarditis were associated with health care contact. Non-HACEK gram-negative bacillus endocarditis is not primarily a disease of injection drug users.
Early clinical and subclinical cardiotoxicity was frequent in patients receiving the CHOP regimen. The threshold of the cumulative dose of doxorubicin appeared to be low: at doses >200 mg/m(2), 27% of patients had cardiac events. Elderly patients appeared to be at higher risk. The development of cardioprotective strategies or alternative treatments are mandatory for aggressive NHL patients.
Previous conflicting results appear to be related to differences in statistical methods. When using appropriate models, we found that VS was significantly associated with reduced long-term mortality.
