ABSTRAK Pendekatan penelitian pada peternakan rakyat Livestock On-Farm Trials ditujukan untuk mengidentifikasi sistem produksi peternakan sapi potong di pedesaan wilayah kabupaten yaitu Cilacap, Banyumas, Purbalingga, Banjarnegara dan Kebumen.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendokumentasikan karakteristik sistem produksi peternakan sapi potong, strategi pengembangan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas serta dukungan pembiayaan dari bank.Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan pola yang diterapkan berupa peternakan tradisional berlahan terbatas (traditional rural landless) yang terintegrasi dengan sistem pertanian utamanya tanaman padi. Sapi Peranakan Ongole (PO) sangat dominan ditemukan dan merupakan sapi lokal yang tersebar di lima kabupaten. Pada wilayah penelitian juga ditemukan Sapi Brahman Cross yang ditujukan untuk pembiakan. Penampilan produksi sapi PO, Sumba Ongole dan Persilangan Simmental untuk tujuan penggemukan memperlihatkan hasil BCS sedang sampai tinggi, tetapi produktivitas sapi Brahman Cross cenderung rendah. Diperlukan perbaikan pada feeding system and good farming practices untuk meningkatkan produktivitas sapi. Kebijakan untuk meningkatkan akses pembiayaan kredit, meliputi (i) Penguatan dinamika kelompok dan penerapan teknologi untuk memperbaiki produktivitas sapi potong, (ii) pendampingan pemerintah mengenai aspek penjaminan dan subsidi kredit, penyediaan bantuan untuk revitalisasi pertanian yang dikelola pemerintah dan perbankan, (iii) bekerjasama dengan mitra yang sesuai seperti perbankan dan BUMN untuk program Kredit Kemitraan dan Corporate Social Responsibility.Kata kunci : Sistem produksi peternakan, sapi potong, produktivitas, strategi pengembangan ABSTRACT Livestock On-Farm Trials addressed to identify livestock system of beef cattle production in the villages of Cilacap, Banyumas, Purbalingga, Banjarnegara and Kebumen regencies. This study was designed to documenting the production system characteristics of beef cattle and development strategic of livestock production system in order to increase their productivity and financial support from bank. Beef cattle production systems characterize by traditional rural landless and integrated with crops especially rice. Ongole Cross (Peranakan Ongole) are the predominant of the local cattle and are widely distributed over the five regencies. Brahman Cross also found that are raising for cow calf operation. Performance of Peranakan Ongole, Sumba Ongole, and Simental Cross for fattening purposes were moderate to high of BCS, but low reproductive for Brahman Cross. Improving feeding system and good farming practices could be done to increase beef cattle productivity. Policies to improve access to credit financing, including (i) Strengthening of group dynamics and application of technology to improve the productivity of beef cattle,(ii) government assistance on the aspects of credit guarantee and subsidies, provision of assistance for agricultural revitalization managed by the government and banking,(iii) working with appropriate partners such as banks and BUM...
The competitiveness of livestock business is one strategic issue to guarantee the empowerment and sustainability of small scale beef cattle business. The study conducted on the competitiveness of beef cattle business in Tegal regency aims at (1) identifying the competitiveness of beef cattle business in various agro-ecological zones and (2) analyzing factors influencing the business competitiveness. This study employs a survey method to 100 beef cattle farmers in Tegal Regency. The respondents are selected using a stratified random sampling technique based on the agro-ecological zones (highland, lowland, and coastal areas). The observed variables are business efficiency, farmers’ age, farmers’ education, farming experience, number of family members, and number of cattle. The data are processed using ANOVA and multiple linear regressions. The beef cattle business in Tegal Regency is quite competitive which is characterized with the business efficiency by 1.39. The beef cattle business at the highlands has a higher competitiveness than that at the other agro-ecological zones (P <0.01). The competitiveness of beef cattle business is influenced by the farmers’ age (P <0.05), as well as the farming experience and number of cattle (P <0.01). The development of beef cattle business scale accompanied by the development of livestock production technical ability should be made to strengthen the competitiveness of beef cattle business in Tegal regency.
Entrepreneurial behavior is a series of actions of business actors to freely combine innovative resources to identify and pursue opportunities. This behavior is influenced by self-efficacy, perceptions of supporting contexts and ability to control attitudes. This study aims to identify the extent of and contributing factors to entrepreneurial behavior of broiler farmers in Banyumas. The data were collected from a survey engaging 60 farmers-members of partnership farming. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical and correlation analysis. The results showed that the entrepreneurial behavior of farmers was in high category with an average score of 65.45. Farmers have a high category of self-efficacy with an average score of 18.55. Farmers' perceptions of supporting contexts and the ability of farmers to control attitudes are in the medium category with an average of 30.04 and 33.70 respectively. There was a significant relationship between entrepreneurial behavior and self-confidence and perceptions of supporting context, but no significant relationship with the ability to control attitudes. The relationship between entrepreneurial behavior and farmer self-confidence is in the weak category, while the relationship between entrepreneurial behavior and farmers' perceptions of supporting contexts is in the moderate category.
