Replacement of the damaged bone remains actual and is far from being completely solved nowadays, despite its centuries-old history. The purpose of study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory and osteo-regenerative qualities of the paste based on Symphytum officinale tincture and calcium hydroxide in treatment on teeth with chronic granulating apical periodontitis in children and in an experiment on animals. Performed morphological and densitometric studies showed that remodeling of bone injury of the lower jaw in rats occurs almost equally in both experimental and control groups, and a paste based on Symphytum officinale tincture and calcium hydroxide also promotes bone regeneration at the defect site and stimulates osteosynthesis. Analysis of liver tissue, soft and hard tissues of the lower jaw in animals suggest that the proposed paste does not produce any toxic effect and provides significant anti-inflammatory properties. The gained result provide grounds to recommend the developed paste for therapeutic use in children as a temporary root canal sealing material in permanent teeth with granulating apical periodontitis.
To be living at the most advanced technological area in history is to exist and face pollution one of the most serious threats to all living things on the planet. There is evidence that anthropogenic and technological pollutions cause a considerable number of health problems and stomatological in particular. This article demonstrates the results gained by administration of vitamin-macro element complex “Calcinova” and sorbent “Enterosgel” in correction of enzymes responsible for biotransformation of xenobiotics in blood serum of children from the polluted areas. It has been established the high efficiency of recommended scheme on caries prophylaxis that is proved by positive biochemical indexes in blood serum of this children observed 30 month after the beginning of the investigation. As a result of the introduced prophylaxis, we have noticed the significant improvement of biochemical indexes in children with tooth decay. The findings reflect a certain rise in activity of enzymes responsible for elimination of xenobiotics such as alcohol-dehydrogenase (ADH) and glutathione-S-transferase (GST) obtained from the blood serum of children from the main group comparing to the control group.
Periodontal diseases comprise an actual problem nowadays due to their high prevalence. Young people in particularly remain susceptible to aggressive periodontal disorders that affect the suspensory apparatus of the teeth. The aim of the study was to establish some indexes of protein peroxidation and total protein content in the oral liquid of young people affected by stage I periodontitis, degree A and B observed before and after the appointed complex therapy. Conducted investigations demonstrate that there are significant changes in protein homeostasis and pro-oxidant protection in the oral liquid of young people in case of stage I periodontitis, degree A and B. The latter indicates an increase of the total protein content as well as a rise of oxidative protein modifications of both aldehyde and ketone derivatives, which are neutral and basic in nature. The recorded dynamic of the gained results of protein metabolism and pro-oxidant protection in the oral liquid of young people in case stage I periodontitis, degree A and B obtained at different terms after administered treatment suggests that the introduced management provides a pronounced positive effect on the regulation of these indexes. Moreover, herbal remedies as a part of the proposed agents for local and general administration show a good antioxidant effect and contribute to long-term maintenance of gained results. They also prevent recurrence of periodontitis and contribute to prolonged remission.
Orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances that is mediated by the power forces of the apparatus might lead to changes in the blood circulation, predispose to a number of complications such as tooth movement and contributes to the morphological bone tissue remodeling. We have investigated 126 patients aged 16–35 years after appliance bracket therapy that has caused orthodontically induced gingival hyperplasia. Immunological investigation which comprised the study of the cellular immune system in patients with orthodontically induced gingival hyperplasia suggested that there were significant disorders of the cellular immune system that correspond to the T-suppressor type of the secondary immunodeficiency state. Endogenous interferon composed of a low molecular weight organic compounds and an interferon-inducing agent (isonicotinic acid derivative) was used in the treatment of the patients with orthodontically induced gingival hyperplasia. Interferon provides restoration of functional activity in T-lymphocytes, enhances the functional capacity of the macrophages, provides normalization of the cell immunity, contributes to the elimination of secondary immunodeficiency and restoration of immunological homeostasis in individuals with orthodontically induced gingival hyperplasia caused by fixed appliances.
Pathological condition of periodontal structures presents a most complicated and wide spread problem in modern stomatology. According to data provided by WHO the periodontal disorders affect from 55 % up to 99% of population between the ages of 15 to 20 years and varies from 65% up to 98% in the age group from 35 to 44 years. It has to be emphasized that there is none a single efficient treatment of generalized chronic periodontitis. Therefore, it is vital to improve the existent methods and find the new ones in diagnosis and management of periodontal disorders. The latter remains an actual subject of modern periodontology and surgical stomatology and exceeds a strategic doctrine on the whole. The article demonstrates the results gained by surgical treatment of chronic generalized periodontitis, III degree of severity obtained by administration of bone-plastic material “Osteoplast-К” together with barrier membrane “Parodoncol” and pharmacological agent with immunomodulating effect «Extra Erbisol». We have observed the high efficiency of the recommended treatment that was proved by positive dynamic of alkali nephosphatase (ALP) in the blood serum of the main group over the period from 4 to 30 days by 21,7% comparing to the initial level (р < 0,05). This investigation suggests that there is higher alveolar bone regeneration in the patients from the main group after the introduced treatment comparing to the control group. On the other hand, activity of aminotranspherase did not changed significantly before and after operation in the control group. The findings also prove that there is no harmful influence of pharmacological agents used in this scheme.
