Higher education places a great emphasis on research. In order to remain competitive, Catholic universities also place a great focus on research. The quality and quantity of lecturer research is one of the determining factors in the ranking of a tertiary institution. An evaluation of lecturer research productivity requires an instrument to measure lecturer research activities and understand determinants. Lecturer productivity involves many complex factors that are both objective and subjective, and is considered part of multi-criteria decision making. This study uses the AHP approach to determine the weights of the criteria and sub-criteria and their dominant factors. This method is used to evaluate the productivity of lecturers at Unika De La Salle Manado and has implications and applications for all universities.
Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play an important role in the development of a country's economy by providing employment and using local resources; they also have the ability to quickly adapt to external and internal changes and technological developments due to their flexible nature. The development of SMEs continues to be encouraged, but there are many complex factors that impact their development, primarily focused on the lack of resources. This study seeks to determine priority sectors for developing SMEs and business units that offer the greatest potential opportunities. This study uses the AHP method, which is widely used in Multiple-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA). Out of the five criteria analyzed, human resources was the priority factor (28.1%) that must become the main focus for Yamaru enterprise. The results of this study can be adopted by other SMEs.
Strategic planning is commonly used in profit-oriented institutions. However, it is rarely applied to non-profit organizations such as churches. The Holy Bible reveals the extensive use of strategic management by the believers as documented both in the Old and New Testament, in regards to the implementation of strategic planning to organize the people of God. The Vicariate Episcopal of Tonsea of the Diocese of Manado, as a local Catholic Church Community decided on applying strategic planning methods to rank priorities of tasks required to meet their pastoral mission. Using the Analytical Hierarchy Process, the study reveals that the ranking of the key elements of their mission, the program of the Ministry of the Word and Sacrament, was the highest priority at 23.8%, followed by preserving the treasury of faith of 20.1%, then the fellowship and leadership with 19.7%, promoting the dignity of the laity with 14.4%, the Catholic education with 11.9% and the last was managing the Church property with 10.2%. The highest ranked sub-criteria were; organizing pastoral structure (7.6%), followed by the upgrading catechetic program (7.2%), then role model and competency of liturgy leadership (7.0%). This study provides direction to the parish priests of the Vicariate Episcopal of Tonsea and provides a methodology to formulate their strategic plans and best utilize their resources. This study demonstrated the importance of the Analytical Hierarchy Process in determining the priority of the programs identified by the Church. The researchers recommend further and deeper research on other Vicariates of the Diocese of Manado.
Strategic priorities are commonly implemented by both profit and non-profit institutions, but rarely employed by religious congregations. The congregation of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC), an institution in the Catholic Church, has undertaken an empirical study, using a combination of SWOT and fuzzy-Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodologies. Four strategies were employed. First, the strategy S-O (30.1%), aimed at intensifying and improving our human resources in order to enrich the lives of all our members. Second, we adopted the strategy S-T (25.8%) that focused on our Sacred Heart Spirituality to empower the fraternal community. Third, we adopted the strategy W-T (24.1%) that aimed at strengthening the Sacred Heart Spirituality throughout the entire MSC family. Finally, we used the strategy W-O (20.1%) in order to strengthen networking in the congregation while also revitalizing family ministry. A sensitivity analysis confirmed the SO alternative as the main strategy. Internally, the congregation is quite strong but more needs to be done to deepen the Sacred Heart Spirituality among all our members. The researchers recommend conducting further study of the congregation about how they perceive the MSC pastoral ministry and understand the vision.
Online buying is growing and has become very common during the COVID-19 pandemic period. A large number of companies take advantage of this method, and many consumers find it helpful to the existing technology. In this study, the researcher wanted to investigate the strategic priority of convenience for online Shopping of the Generation Y consumer. Data were collected from college students and analysed using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results of the analysis showed that the criteria of easy comparison of prices of the goods to be purchased are the highest value (28.544 per cent). The global weight calculation showed that the availability of information in the form of text and images is the highest (13.789 per cent). Sensitivity analysis showed that the results of this global weight are very sensitive to a change in the criteria. This study provides benefits by focusing online businesses' attention on the appearance of their application features, both text, images, and graphics. Competitive product prices must also be a concern for online businesses.
Industry 4.0 is characterized by the digitalization of systems and processes in service and manufacturing industries and has changed the way people live. Education plays a significant role in preparing the future workforce with the necessary technological skills and competencies required by industries and institutions. Studies have shown that soft skills improve a student’s ability to learn, increase their potential for success, and typically increase future economic benefits. This study aims to determine the dominant soft skills that University students in Manado should possess. The perceptions of twenty-four lecturers about four criteria and twelve sub-criteria were compared using both the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (F-AHP) methods. From this, the researchers found teamwork to be the dominant skill (26%). Global analysis uncovered that integrity was the dominant factor overall (10.5% with AHP or 10.3% with F-AHP). The findings were provided to University leaders with recommendations to incorporate the elements of teamwork and integrity into their teaching materials, teaching methods, and curriculum. Students need to understand that these elements are essential to their future. This research proved that both the AHP and Fuzzy-AHP methods were effective tools in analyzing and determining the dominant factors of soft skills in the Industry 4.0 era. This research contributes to determining the priority factors related to soft skills needed by higher education graduates in the Industry 4.0 era using a combination of AHP and Fuzzy-AHP. The researchers recommended that other scholars conduct future studies using entrepreneurs or business practitioners as respondents.
The Covid 19 pandemic has significantly impacted the tourism industry, requiring areas such as the Siau Tagulandang Biaro Islands Regency to reevaluate their strategy. Identification of the key strategic initiatives is paramount to a successful tourism plan. Because these initiatives are often defined using vague and uncertain perceptions or gray areas, the Fuzzy-AHP methodology was identified and used to determine the value of each criterion and sub-criteria and establish strategic recommendations. The analysis results show that facilities are the highest criterion (34.4% AHP; 24.7% Fuzzy-AHP). The global weight calculation shows hygiene and health are priority elements (8.6% AHP; 8.2% Fuzzy-AHP). The sensitivity analysis shows that the results are robust, consistent, and stable. These results indicate no significant difference between the AHP and Fuzzy-AHP methods. The tourism development strategy for Siau Tagulandang Biaro regency must prioritize improving the cleanliness and health of tourist destinations.
