Diversas investigaciones han demostrado que las personas disminuyen su ingesta alimentaria en presencia de otro, pues al sentirse evaluados, buscan causar una buena impresión. Dada la susceptibilidad de los adolescentes a la influencia social, resulta importante evaluar el efecto de las normas sociales sobre su consumo alimentario, específicamente cuando éstos se saben observados. Se realizó un estudio con diseño experimental ABA´, se evaluó el consumo inicial y final de los participantes en las fases A y A´ y en la fase B se les dio la indicación de que serían observados mientras se alimentaban. Participaron seis adolescentes con peso normal y se dividieron al azar en dos grupos (control y experimental). Se realizaron análisis individuales y entre grupos. El grupo experimental disminuyó su ingesta en la fase B en comparación con el grupo control. Estos hallazgos sugieren que el manejo de impresiones está presente en ausencia de un evaluador.
