Carbonylation reactions, such as Heck, Sonogashira, and radical carbonylations, were successfully carried out in a "two-chamber reactor" where carbon monoxide was produced ex situ by the Morgan reaction (dehydration of formic acid by sulfuric acid). By a subsequent application in a microflow system using a "tube-in-tube" reactor where gas-permeable Teflon AF2400 was used as the inner tube, it is demonstrated that formic acid/sulfuric acid can be employed concomitantly with an amine base such as triethylamine in the Heck aminocarbonylation of aryl iodide.
SummaryThe Koch–Haaf reaction of adamantanols was successfully carried out in a microflow system at room temperature. By combining an acid-tolerant hastelloy-made micromixer, a PTFE tube, and a hastelloy-made microextraction unit, a packaged reaction-to-workup system was developed. By means of the present system, the multigram scale synthesis of 1-adamantanecarboxylic acid was achieved in ca. one hour operation.
A monolithic and flexible polyimide film microreactor with passive mixing patterns is fabricated by laser ablation. In their Communication on page 7063 ff. D. P. Kim and co-workers show the excellent stability of these film microreactors by using them to perform various organic synthesis reactions under harsh conditions. The simple fabrication and the facile adhesive sealing step facilitate mass production of this flexible film microfluidic device.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
